Latino:
People who come from countries with Latin-Based languges.
examples: Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Mexico, Cuba, Bazil
Latinamerican:
People who come from countries in the Americas with Latin-Based languges.
examples: Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Haiti, Uruguay
Hispanic:
People who come from Spanish speaking Counties.
example: Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Chile, El Slvador, Colombia

If you are born in the US of 2 Mexican-born parents, you are Chicano. This may also apply if one of your parents is Mexican and the other was born within Central America.
If you are otherwise mixed-race you could very likely be called guero/a (whitey, particularly if you are light skinned) or meztiso (mixed, even though that usually refers to Mexican-born people with European and indigenous blood)
It would not be inappropriate to call yourself Chicano if it applies, it may even be considered a good thing - depending on where you are and who you're talking to.

Actually it is mexicano-americano. Latino and Hispano are terms for people from all Latin-American countries, not just Mexico, so those terms are too all-encompassing for what you mean. |
