be safe...but to go back to the u.s you'll need your birth certificate and dl. THey are being very picky especially since its still spring break in some parts of the sd area. so make sure you have your birth certificate if not they'll make a big fuss and send you to secondary and scare the crappers out of you. |

As Puerto Rican, you will be treated like any other U.S. citizen. If you are traveling by land or sea, you do NOT need a passport to cross the US-Mexico border (in either direction). If you FLY to Mexico, you will need a passport.
However, starting in 2008, you WILL need a valid passport to go between Mexico and the US, whether you go by land, sea, or air.

Ah, por las dudas, te aviso que si vas a necesitar obtener un pasaporte para el 2008, que lo hagas AHORA. No esperes! Yo estoy haciendo el proceso de renovar el mio, y el Depto. de Pasaportes dice que estan super-atrasados y que reciben mas peticiones cada dia (asi que estan mas atrasados cada vez). Yo estoy pidiendo una simple renovacion de mi pasaporte, lo cual normalmente tarda 4-6 semanas, pero ahora va a tardar como 4 meses! Obtener un pasaporte por primera vez tarda aun mas tiempo. |

you will be fine with what you have, as long as you are walking or driving across. Flying from mexico into u.s. -is when u will need a passport. 2008 is the big change. Everyone will need passport. Don't worry--have fun!!! |
