I have been to very southern Mexico and I lived in Guatemala (which is VERY similar). I love both places. The culture is great, very family oriented and relaxed. I like the food, although, as I'm sure you already know it's NOT taco bell :) It's a lot of chicken, tamales, soups and such. There is a lot to do everywhere beyond just exploring the people and the culture. There are a lot of ruins to visit, beaches, beautiful cities with baroque churches and central America is fairly easy to travel through so you can really get on a bus and travel all through Mexico and all through Central America and it is cheap. There are volcanoes to see (active ones spewing lava). Spanish is very beautiful. I love spanish of course. Living there is amazing or even visiting because you are completely surrounded and immersed in a beautiful language. As you can tell I love it there. I hope I didn't leave anything out which I'm sure from this WAY too long answer I didn't. Have fun if you go! OH AND DO NOT DRINK THE WATER, do not eat ice cubes or ice chips unless you are in a VERY upscale resort, brush your teeth with bottled water (slim chance to get sick, but still) WASH ALL FRESH FRUIT WITH SOAP AND WATER and now I'm done!

Mexico's biodiversity makes it one of the top countries in the world. We have everything! Beautiful beaches, huge mountains, mythological volcanoes, arid deserts, wild jungles...everything!!!

As a tourist, you'll find Mexico's hospitality as remarkable.

Come visit Mexico, there's so much to see!!!

You do there what you do in any place you travel. Decide carefully on what you want to see and do and select a place accordingly. Once you get there, ask the hotel which places to avoid. Always be alert for pickpockets, never wear expensive jewellery or watches, and never take more cash out with you than you absolutely need.
Since you should do what you can to avoid contact with the police, I strongly suggest that you do not rent a car.

it depends where you are. i live right next to the border to juarez mexico and right now its a really bad place to be at. many are killed everyday the violence has really gotten out of control. there are not only many deaths but many in poverty, mexico has many great places though its can be really beautiful.
