I live in mexico...and here is a serious answer. if you are travelling by sea or land, you need your birth certificate (certified, not a copy), a picture I.D. and a short term visa (tourist card0 which you can obtain at the border. It is good for up to 180 days. If you are flying AFTER Jan. 23 (or returning after Jan. 23) you need a passport as well. Starting in Jan 2007 you will need a passport at all times to enter and exit Mexico. When you fly to Mexico, you get your tourist card on the plane. See web site below to read for yourself.

A picture ID. A drivers license. I went there 2 years ago. They just meet you at the border and when you leave, you have to claim anything you buy to pay taxes on it.

Passport of other proof of citizenship. DL or other photo ID is helpful. For less than 7 days, just fill out the tourist card (FMT) at the border or on the plane. For over 7 days (up to 180 days) it will cost about $25.

Love always, Kortnei
A photo ID and birth certificate OR a passport/visa...and prolly a customs declaration
