That is a lovely area near the mountains of Michoacan. Right now we are in the dry season so everything is pretty dry but by June everything will be beautiful and green again. The main industry there is textiles. Pretty much just a real non-touristy Mexican mid-sized town. Should be a good place to see the real Mexico.
It's a small town near Morelia, where I lived, loved it by the way. They make this food called "carnitas" don't leave without tasting them.

Hmm Michoacan Yes!!..One of the best states in mexico to be in..la piedad is located near a major freeway (toll) that leads to guadalajara it's like a 2 hr drive to guadalajara...michoacan has beautiful mountains and scenary..right now everythings dry but come july you will see nothing but green...

one of the ugliest places on mexico, if i were you i'd go to guadalajara or guanajuato wich are 2 hrs from la piedad (and have way much to offer, check it on wikipedia)
