What is a good all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta?

I'm considering taking a vacation to Puerto Vallarta and want to try an all-inclusive resort. What are some good suggestions for PV and also, is the all-inclusive route worth it?

I've been to Samba Vallarta and it was pretty cool. Having all the food and entertainment and everything included was nice. I think that all-inclusive is best for family vacations, so if you're taking that kind of vacation then Samba Vallarta is a good choice. It's a nice place, is affordable as far as luxury resorts go and is a lot of fun with all the activities. Plus, Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful place!

Yes, the all-inclusive route is the way to go. I found that the best all-inclusive resort and hotel in Puerto Vallarta is Samba Vallarta by Pueblo Bonito. Situated alongside a secluded 12-mile stretch of beach. With the pool side service and clean rooms. It's a great stay for a family or group of friends to have fun and enjoy the luxury of Mexico. One of the most outstanding parts of the hotel stay wasp the evening entertainment.
After much research by myself i found this hotel to be have the friendliest staff, best beach side location, and excellent value

we stayed at the Melia at it was very nice next to the marina if you like boats. No beach vendors YEA!! staff was great. rooms large and clean huge pool. If you stay out in Nueveo expect a 20.00 cab far to go into PV I think it sucks personally but that is where all the new hotels are that would have to be a personal choice I can't sit at a hotel for a week I like to explore.

All-inclusive is definitely the wrong route to go in Puerto Vallarta.

One of the reasons people love Vallarta is because it has such a strong traditional town. Food and drink are plentiful and very inexpensive in Puerto Vallarta and it would be a shame to spend all your mealtimes behind the gates of your hotel when you could be out experiencing some of the most exciting and authentic cuisine you've ever tasted.

In the Olas Altas area there are literally dozens of friendly local restaurants where you can eat well for a fraction of what meals cost in any hotel.

Most all-inclusive hotels aren't that good anyway. Some are okay, but most have average food that you get tired of very quickly. They also have a nasty habit of using low-quality cheap liquor. I did an AI at the Barcelo one time and was VERY disappointed at the poor quality of the meats. The buffet *LOOKED* good, and the kids could stuff themselves, no doubt about it. But the quality honestly was no better than your college dining hall back home.

You can save money by avoiding the AI and finding a really cool local hotel and then eating at the best local restaurants.

A great place to stay is called Casa Isabel. For a bit over $100 per night, you get a GREAT room in a mansion overlooking the old town. You're within walking distance of Restaurant Row where you can get a roast chicken dinner for $5 or splurge and eat at one of the fanciest places in town.

Sorry to burst the bubble of all the folks who like the AI resorts, but honestly, you can EASILY do better (both in terms of $$$ and quality). That's not the case everywhere, but it sure as heck is in Puerto Vallarta!!

Have fun!
Mark
