I know you said summer, and this place is really humid in summer, but if you ever do fall and you want a lazy vacation in total luxury...go to Hotel Villa Del Sol in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (www.hotelvilladelsol.com) ...we go in October and it's amazing. Do the beach suite..you'll never do anything else... |

It all depends on what you like to do or the places you like and if you like common places or some underground places...
Colonial/Virreinato Cities ( nice to walk, old architecture, museums..) = Taxco, Queretaro, Puebla, Guanajuato, Real de catorce...
Beaches= West Coast (Yucatan state) is for nice sand, warm watter, light blue sea... Cancun (too American), Cozumel, isla mujeres are more expensive but with big discos and restaurants also. You may find some cheaper and nice places. This part of the country is also good for scuba diving!!!
East Coast is less expensive and you wont find the quality of the beaches... in exchange you will find a lot of night life and young Mexican people and from other countries to party party party... Acapulco, Ixtapa, Puerto, Vallarta, La paz... etc etc
Mayas Pyramids = in Yucatan state
Aztecs Pyramids= Central Mexico
Big cities offer, food, museums, nightlife etc etc...
As you can see you can find a loooooooot of options and i will never end. I recommend you to choose from cities, architecture, pyramids, beaches, night life, relax spots and then time and budget ...take a look at this pages:

As long as you can stand the heat, there are a lot of places. I really like the Riviera Maya area, as do many of my clients.
Call a travel agency specializing in Mexican and Caribbean travel. They will be able to help you and find you a good summer deal.
Look at www.applevacations.com. Apple is a very good wholesaler, and will give you pricing. They almost always have the best deals to Mexico. You will not be able to book yourself directly with them, you will have to call a travel agent (but you can check the pricing and hotel availability). |
