Visit the Mayan ruins, take a snorkeling day cruise, visit the island of Isla Mujeres (day cruise), the resorts make it their #1 priority to entertain you!

There is also a natural water park called Xel Ha... It is in Tulum (ruin site) and a day trip is worth the time and money.

You can't beat the scuba diving! Stay away from the tourist areas so as to avoid getting economically raped. Be careful of what you drink, preferably pour your own!

Go parasailing! And bring your camera with you in a couple sealed Ziploc bags so you can take pictures when you get up in the air! I did this, and it was such an awesome experience! If you're going to ever go parasailing, the best place to do it is over beautiful, clear water! It's about $45 US dollars a person.

Take a tour to the Mayan Ruin's Coba and Tulum are close to Cancun the main ruins are a couple hours away, however if you have access to a car your best tour is the main ruins. Spend one night at the Mayan ruins at the Mayan Resort you'll never experience a place like this on earth. Take a Ferry trip to Cozumel and snorkel some of the reefs around the town of San Miguel. Spend some time in town walking around it's fun. You will enjoy all the people and it's a real step up from downtown Cancun.
The main Cancun hotel row is a drag, unless you have a car. You are a captured audience, prices are high and you have no place to go unles you travel by taxi. Not sure about the bus service. That's not to say you can't see a lot of attractions by tour. If you are planning your trip try and stay in Playa Del Carman just south of Cancun and you can ride the bus into town. The Ferry departs and returns from this port to Cozumel. There is another island kind of South East of Cancun Isla Myharis, great out of the way place. My bet is you'll love Cozumel.

If you like to have a good time go to Senoir Frogs...it is the hottest spot in town....it is a blast! I went there a year ago on spring break....the music rocks and they have all kinds of cool contests at night...watch out cause every time you order a shot (whether you are male or female) they will blow a whistle and tweek you nipples....I know it sound weird but I guess that it how they do it in Mexico...also they have a game where everyone does the train around the club and the barmaids pour tequilla shots in everyones mouth(free) it is such a blast.

Plan on recouperating during the day and maybe hit some of the flea markets you can get some great stuff cheap. DO NOT EVER PAY THE PRICE THEY ASK! They will snicker behind your back and call you dumb americana....always barter with them. I bought my daughter a 60.00 cowboy hat for 20.00 there. If you like a bargain like I do you will have a blast.

Then you have to enjoy some time by the water. They have the most beautiful water I have ever seen in my life and I live in Florida. The water is so crystal clear and blue it is amazing.

You also need to do the snorkeling. Even an amatuer like me was able to do it and it is awesome!

Remember though in Mexico you do not want to talk to ANYONE in the airport when you land ....there are people there trying to screw you over for your money. They will act like they know you and are waiting for you or try to flag you down. Ignore them! It is everything from them trying to sell you tickets to things to cell phone service. If you don't want to waste a couple hours trying to figure out what the hell is going on just ignore them and walk away and go get a taxi and go to your hotel. The hotel is the best place to ask information. Especially if you are staying in one of the nice resorts.
