What is the best way to hire a car in Baja, Mexico? |
I am travelling to Mexico in June and would like to hire a car in Tijuana and travel down the Baja peninsula, dropping the car off in Cabo San Lucas (or thereabouts) before catching the ferry across to mainland Mexico.The only quotes I can find online include a drop-off fee (for returning the car to a different depot to the one at which I picked it up) of about $600--basically doubling the cost of car hire. Is there any way around this? |

It's like in the US, when you rent a car, there is an additional charge when you drop it off at a different location, and if your a foreigner, they'll charge you an arm and a leg. I would recommend taking the bus down to the Cabo, and then catch the ferry. Nowadays, they have good bus service, that isn't too expensive and high quality, first class. This would be a way of getting around that. Good luck. |

Renting cars in Mexico is pretty expensive and you are making a roughly 1000 km trip. It is my understanding that the ferry leaves from La Paz and not Cabo. I am in Loreto, and car rental is $$$$ nice cars, but $$ Also ferry doesn't go every day. |

hire the car from the first place which is cheap rate .. then abandon the car at car park when boarding the ferry .. who cares |

Go to bus station (central de autobuses) and take a bus to La Paz o Los cabos, it will be cheaper. |
