What is the legal drinking age in Mexico when on vacation?

I'm an american college kid, can I drink when on vacation in Mexico?
I know some places like Cancun are "americanized"- does that mean you have to be 21?
THANKS!!

The Legal drinking age in Mexico is 18 years old. i have Mexican cousins, who live in Mexico, and they're between 17 to 21 years old, so they've told me this.
I'm not too sure about Cancun being "americanized" though.
the law doesn't enforce the drinking age, a little kid could go into a store and buy a bottle of alcohol, (i've seen my 9 year old cousin do it).
As long as you can see over the counter top, they'll serve you alcohol.
mexican law doesn't enforce as much like here in the USA.

The legal drinking age in Mexico is $2.00. If you have the $2.00 they'll sell you the beer. Actually it's 18 as others have said but rarely enforced.

Sometimes clubs will ask for ID but rarely. As for resorts if it's an all-inclusive that uses wristbands then minors tend to have a different color band. The parents pay less but the kids obviously don't get to drink. If you're in College, you won't have a problem getting drinks, heck if you're in high school you won't have much of a problem really.

"The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, but it is not uniformly enforced"

Legally, once you become 18 you are an adult in Mexico with all the obligations and rights thereof. A locale may have a policy stricter than the law but I don't think there are many. When I was young the age was 21. But my daughter, who is now 24, once she got her Elector's Card at 18, has been going to bars with her friends without any problem. Anyway, be moderate.

The legal age is the same whether on vacation or not.

It is 18. I went this past summer and I was able to drink and I was 18 at the time. It is def. 18 because I asked down there and checked around.

I'm almost positive the age is 18

You'll be fine. It's at least 18. I'm pretty sure on that. If they are Americanized...they might be 21.

Legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, but I have never seen anybody carded. As long as you don't look like 10 years old...you will be good. Cancun is nothing like America....people down there don't care about your business....they want you to have fun and enjoy yourself. You will love it!!!!

?
If you have the money and can walk to a bar and place an order then you are old enough in Mexico

p_s_babys_mama
nope just 18
