Mikey really sat back and thought about this............Mikey doubt's that ANY figure provided would be extremely reliable.
Looking around Acapulco with that in my mind............
Mikey guesses about 30% realistically don't have a steady place of employment.
Job creation is not at the forefront of Mexican gov't.

Unemployment rates in developing countries are not reliable for a number of reasons. Mexico's official unemployment rate is 3.7% for 2008, but this does not include a vast number of people who work unofficial jobs, and work jobs irregularly where ever they can find it.

So although the official rate of unemployment is very low at 3.7%, the estimated number who are 'underemployed' is 25% - which is pretty high. These would include people who live 'day-to-day' searching for casual work wherever and whenever they can find it.

The US unemployment rate is estimated to be around 7.9% in 2009, This is a more accurate figure than in Mexico because the US does not have a large unregulated casual economy.

mexico does not have unemployment benefits , so noone even counts how many unemployed people there are

That's hard because most of the unemployed from Mexico comes to America which causes Americas unemployment to go up as well.
