Bright to semi-bright colors, patterns, and palettes are good for Vallarta. A cocktail dress is perfect, and you can choose from warm scarlets and oranges, to sunflower yellow, elegant black, or a caribbean & navy blue combination.

That sounds great. Its not touristy and sounds elegant and classy. Wear it as long as you are comfortable.
If its at the resort, you may want to call and ask for a dress code (strapless, sandals...) |

You do not want to cover that much in May anyway. It is very hot and steaming moist 100% humidity. |

I'm 21 years old and I am going with my boyfriend to Puerto Vallarta in May also. I am going to bring a ton of cute sundresses, and then some more dressy dresses that can be worn when we go out to our formal dinners. A red cocktail dress would work even a black evening dress that you can accessorize and where some cute heels with would work too! Have fun on your trip! |

Red is a great color for evening wear in Mexico! :)
Just dress like you're going to Miami.... swimwear, shorts, tanks and/or sundresses by day and cute dresses at night. You're going to love it there!!! Take a jacket thou, 'cause it gets chilly at night, sometimes. |
