Birth Certificate and Driver's License will suffice. There will be NO passport requirement until January 1, 2008 unless your are going in by air. If you're on foot or in a car, passports are definitely not required.

they changed the laws a while ago... you have to have a passport.... go to travel.gov and you can get all the info there.

You don't need much to get into Mexico, but to get out and back into the US, you need a passport. I live 30 minutes from the border in South Texas.

just your regular id i believe and they ask your citizen ship. i dont think you need a passport yet, only if your traveling deep into the country.

if you fly into TJ youll need a passport, and a current valid state
drivers license or ID.
if you drive or walk across you just need the later., however in a few months they are supposed to change the law and americans will need a passport to get back into the U.S.
they have been saying that for 2 years now and it keeps getting postponed. by next year though it will go. probably Jan 1st.
i live in TJ, let me know if you want someone to show you around. i did that once for a group of dudes i met walking down the street one time, and they said i made their trip.
my best advice is go see whats in "zona rio" or "5 y 10"
if you really want to get a taste of what it's like here. things are much cheaper then on the turist drag. The drag is called "Revolution Ave" lots of nightclubs with open air balconies on 2nd floors of every building and stores that all sell the exact same stuff on the 1st floors of the buildings. only the names of the places are different. the best ones are "El Torito", "Animale" and "Iguana Ranas". near the border is a plaza called "Pueblo Amigo" in it are 2 large clubs worth checking out "Senor Frogs" is one of them. Wed & Sat.'s they have specials. In Zona Rio there is the best shopping center in town and across the street on a Fri night you will find all the locals partying at "Plaza Zapato some call it Fiesta Plaza" it contains a much nicer scene then the one you will find anywhere on Revolution. Lastly, we will cover the Donkey Shows as we are world famous for. on the border end of Revo. it starts to go downhill (both literally and figuatively) this is when you put your wallet in your front pocket and proceed at your own risk. there is about a 4 blk area called "La Cauila" Again w/ the themes :strip clubs on the bottom, hotels on the top. only thing different are the names. As a good rule of thumb all the best Strip clubs in Tijuana have city names. Except for "Adelitas" which is a absolute must see. outside of these clubs are a parade of girls too fat, old or infected to work indoors for any of the clubs. prices are $50 for that girl that would never even look at you in real life, all the way down to $15 for your mother-in-law's twin sister. if you let her pick the scabs though it's real nice. The laws are changing. Now, or very soon, you will need a U.S. passport to get into Mexico, even Tijuana, and Canada, I think.

Like a couple people said on foot, or by car/bus u do NOT need a passport. Jan. 1st 2008 u will. But like they said if you're flying or boating in u will need one. I live in San Diego and I have crossed numerous times this year by car without passport.

People say you need a passport now of days, but I went with a military I.D. and got in and out with no problem
