Polluted water from rivers

- Don't order stuff with ice in it unless your in a highly respected hotel or a very well known bar.
- Don't order water in a glass from anywhere, unless your in a very nice restaurant. Even then you should order bottled water.
- If your gut tells you not to drink something its probably right.

the running water if they have it is from the rivers which are very dirty, buy bottled water .some homes dont have running water,they fill the llavao for bathing and washing and toilets,make sure you get shots before you go, people can get worms from that water,or from eating fresh foods washed with it,when we go to Nayarit and Mazatlan,to visit family we alyays buy bottled,July is Rain and flood season down there, that makes the water worse and many mosquitos.

You can either get bottle water, or some hotels filter their water (when you go to the bar). I stuck to the bottled water and never got sick.

Now if your talking about the ocean (well actually carribean sea), it is a very bright blue. The saline content is pretty high, so it will hurt the eyes and nose a little more. But overall, it makes for a really good picture.

If you are coming down to Mexico and worried about drinking the tap water you should just stick to consuming commercially bottled water which every hotel and restaurant provides. You can also buy it at any grocery store or supermarket. There are many brands, including imported like Evian, Pellegrin or locally produced by companies such as Nestle like Ciel, Los Angeles and many many others.

The National Water Commision is very careful about potable water supply. But sometimes pipelines do suffer leaking. Also, water has a higher mineral content which can cause diarrhea. Regarding other water-related diseases, such as cholera, salmonella or hepatitis, bear in mind that some types of foods such as oysters and other shell mollusks should not be consumed, just to be on the safe side.

Other than that, food is great in Mexico. Enjoy it!!!! and really don't worry so much...
