Monterrey is a nice city, secure, if you stay in the downtown area is the best place, for walking, visitin Museums that are nearby as well as many restaurants .

If you drive you can visit Chipinque, Cola de Caballo

Saltillo is a small city, has better weather (no so hot) as Monterrey, but a visit to the downtown is good. Do not expect great things but its ok

The first 3 answers mistakenly assume that you talk about Monterey CA...and not MONTERREY, NUEVO LEON, MEXICO, so ignore them...

has a good list of options, follow a couple, MARCO is one of my favorites...If you drive, in the middle there is a great rocky formation called La Huasteca...and a bohemian bar called Tierra Luna...highly reccomendable...or try going to La Tumba in The Barrio Antiguo section in downtown.

u should go see tha monterrey bay aquarium it izs beutiful

Popocatepetl
In Saltillo you might like to go to "El Museo del Desierto" where you will see some of the tipical animal on this land, and some of the history of the citty, or maybe to the "Museo de las Aves" where there is a beautiful colection of birds that live on this zone of the contry, and some from other places of the country.

You can have your dinner in a restaurant named "La Canasta" that has delicious mexican food, if you want some more modern mexican food you can try "Sol y Luna".

Saltillo and Monterrey are both great cities in northern Mexico. Monterrey has MANY attractions, so I would narrow down your interests. My personal favorite is to go up to Chipinque, the park, and from there you can get a great view of the mountains and area. Beyond that, you might want to pick one or two museums.

As for Saltillo, that is a smaller city. I would definitely see the Museo del Desierto, a world class museum on the outskirts of Saltillo that features the history, geology, anthropology, etc. of the desert north of Mexico. Beyond that, just go downtown and walk around. Again, there are several museums, public buildings, markets, etc. that are enjoyable. Of course, there is also shopping in both places for those searching for treasures to bring back home!

Absolutely you should see the aquarium, but just south is the city of Pacific Grove. If you are going to be there in the fall you can visit the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary there.

The drive between the two cities is great. Sausilito is a small town and you can see it in half a day. But the drives around Sausilito have some awesome views. Drive around to Tiburon and then the winding roads above the golden gate.

In Monterey, in addition to the aquarium, go to Carmel, it is a cute little town. 17 Mile drive is great.

Have fun !
