Go to the folk ballet ( Ballet FolclĂłrico) at Palacio de Bellas Artes. Before or after have a drink or a cup of coffee and a snack at the revolving restaurant on top of the LatinAmerican Tower ( la Torre Latinoamericana) right around the corner from Bellas Artes. There are also several symphony orchestras in Mexico City. See the main plaza (el ZĂłcalo) the Cathedral and the Aztec ruins (Templo Mayor) also downtown. See Chapultepec Castle ( el Castilllo de Chapultepec) in Parque Chapultepec and any of the museums that are there in the park, but especially the museum of History and Anthropology.

Go clubbing in la Colonia Condesa, the happening neighborhood in Mexico City. Also have dinner at La Tecla, an incredible Nouveau Mexican cuisine restaurant on the border of the Condesa and Colonia Roma; I think the street is Calle Oaxaca. Have the mint sherbet for dessert!

Go to the Coyoacán area and visit the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera museums and then enjoy the streetlife in the plaza there in Coyoacán.

Buy touristy junk at Mercado Balderas.

Avoid la Zona Rosa, it's not cool anymore, hasn't been since the early 90s at best.

You will find other things to do on your own, but these are things I would take any visitor to do inside Mexico City - without having to go to the outlying areas.

Go to a play, a concert, and then some good food. Look at the paper to find out which events are going on. Mexico City has a lot of cultural events always going on. Once you find that it will be easier to find a place to eat. Enjoy.

Go to Zona Rosa or Polanco you'll love it, Polanco has a long avenue called Mazarik with many restaurants, full of people and you can go shopping there too.

You can try also Coyoacán, with it's coffee shops and long walks with bookstores and Frida's museum.

Just avoid taking taxis on the street, call by telephone.

Buy bottled water.

Mexico is a country of poor people, most people, there is no such luxury as in other countries who speak English, households, the majority are small, they can even measure 4.5 meters until 8 or 9 meters in front of a house as very long and a maximum depth of about 15 or 25 meters when very large and very expensive though not appear, the food is varied, as long as you have money, the interesting thing for Mexico is that you have to know the right and upside down everything qua there, speak Spanish very well and have no cell in hand, or jewelry of gold, silver, clocks and plastic, because many people here in Mexico kill why, unless you have influence, power, or physical and mental strength to deal with them, and you have to speak Spanish very well, because they make many traps to the person, in brief Mexico is not a good country to live or not to visit, but sad that I lived here.
