King of CancĂșn
You can go and visit Xel-ha and/or X-caret. Both are ecological nature parks where you can swim with dolphins, tour centoes (caves), swim in mystic Mayan waters, snorkel, snuba, etc.
If you like history and cultures you can visit the ancient Mayan ruins. Chichen-Itza and Tulum are neat to visit.
Also, catching a ferry and taking a day trip over to the island of Cozumel is an option. You can shop, have lunch and look around on the island.
If you feel like taking a ride you can catch a bus and go into the hotel zone of CancĂșn. There is a lot more to do in the hotel zone of CancĂșn than Playa Del Carmen itself.
You can visit Avida Quinta, which is a pedestrian mall lined with little shops and malls. Bargaining is expected here.
Aktun Chen, which is the jungle between Akumal and Xel-Ha. Beautiful underground dry caves with stalactite and stalagmite formations and a spectacular fresh water cenote. You might even be lucky enough to see spider monkeys. Poisonous and non-poisonous snakes can be seen at the serpentarium.
I'll provide you a link to view some more things to do in Playa Del Carmen. Enjoy your vacation!!!

Here is a list of things, some you might like some she might like, and some you both wont like or both will like.

Golf, shopping, eat, drinking, hiking, snorkeling- great reef, when i went there were three sharks and a barracuda swam through my legs, para-sailing, scuba diving, speed boating, wildlife adventure- there are big crocodiles in the area. Check with your hotel on how to book the adventures, often times they offer the accommodations right in the lobby.

Things I do at Playa Del Carmen. Snorkel, winds surf, para sail, rent a jet ski, lay on the beach and let the hotel staff bring drinks.

At night, go to the Rui Tequila which caters to the 20 yr. - 30 yr. old crowd. A party every night.

Go to town and shop, take the ferry to Cozumel and rent a moped. Drive my rented moped all over Cozumel when I'm not drinking, eating or shopping.

Take the ferry to Isla Mujeres ( Island of Women ) and rent a golf cart. Run all over the Isla of Mujeres when I am not shopping, drinking, and eating. Visit the sea turtle preserve there.

Book excursion tours to Mayan Ruins ( suggest Coba or Chichen Itza ) and Mayan Villages where the shopping is really inexpensive. You will pay 10 - 20 % of the price for goods compared to prices in the tourist areas.

I have never lacked for something to do in Playa Del Carmen.

Cancun is fabulous for scuba diving. The sea is quiet and quite clear, so you can swim and see plenty of colorful fishes. Don't miss Xcaret and Mayan archeological places! Have a nice trip!

Scuba and head to local attractions. There are so many! I'll link an article that tells you about lots of 'em.

I love Playa Del Carmen. It is an awesome place, and my favorite in all of Mexico.

While your there, make sure to eat at Carlos and Charlies. It is quite the unique experience, and something you have to do.

Snorkeling at Xel Ha is amazing. You can see everything, the water is so clear, and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, one you guys will remember forever.

One of my favorites was snorkeling in the underground caves. Set up a tour through your hotel, it is awesome, and something you can't do anywhere else!

Go shopping downtown. There will be so much to see, and things that you won't see anywhere else.

Hope this helps and have fun <3
