What to take to Cancun for a 3 and a half year old daughter?

I am travelling to Cancu with a 3 and a half year old daughter. Is there anything in particular that I should take with me for the trip? Should I take an umbrella stroller?

Yes, you may want to take an umbrella stroller because you will probably want to walk around the hotel zone at some point of your trip. Other than that one major thing I would consider is make sure she is caught up on all her shots/vaccines before traveling to Mexico.
Also, just sun screen, light clothing, toys for her to play with on the beach, sandals because the ground and sand can get hot.
Also, it would be a good idea if she still drinks milk to take dry milk from where you are coming from, because the milk in CancĂșn is different than what you would get elsewhere and she probably won't like it. Other than that just anything else she is used to such as a certain stuffed animal or things of that nature. Good luck and enjoy your time!

marci knows best
Sun screen, bug replant, light weight cover ups, shoes like Crocs so she won't get hot sand on her feet, lots of toys so she will have something to do when she gets board sitting by the ocean. An umbrella stroller would be good.

My daughter went to Cancun for the first time when she was 3. She loves it there. But, she is a very picky eater, and staying in an all-inclusive resort, I did have a hard time finding things she would eat. Even chicken nuggets and hot dogs look different from what she is used to. So I brought plenty of snacks for her. I also bring individual packs of peanut butter. (It is very difficult to translate "peanut butter"!) Then all I have to ask for is a piece of bread and I can make her a pb sandwich. Also, I have seen other people bring things like a can of soup or raviolis and ask your waiter to heat them up for you. I once saw a woman with a zip lock bag of spaghetti noodles and a jar of Ragu. She and her husband ate a gourmet meal at the restaurant and her kids ate spaghetti.

I went to Cancun last February with my family and can tell you that I used a ton of sunblock while we were there for the week. The sun was brutal, you really felt it when the wind would stop blowing. Sun protection is a must. A small stroller would be best because the sidewalks can get very crowded so you wouldn't want to be trying to get around with a big stroller. You should bring your own childrens medicine just in case you need it, buying that in Cancun is very expensive. If you child is a picky snacker and he/she can't go on without those "certain snacks" pack extra in your suitcase. I brought a ton of snacks from home just so my kids could use them at the pool/beach or bus trip and I was glad that I did because "American snacks" are expensive there, you can always buy the mexican version but they do not taste the same. You can't bring your own water on the airplane but you can pack a few extra bottle in your suitcase if you feel like carrying that extra weight. You can buy plenty of bottled water to take around town with you. Enjoy your trip!

Traveling with your child should be fairly easy there. Bring lots of sun block, it is much more intense there. Bring arm thingies for the pool but most resorts have a bunch of stuff for the kids to play with in the pools. Maybe some things for the sand. You will want a stroller to walk around with but you do ride in cabs or on the bus(Take the bus it is sooooo cheap) so you don't walk long distances around the city. You do walk a lot if you are taking any side trips (ie.see the pyramids) for these you will want to bring WATER (they wont have any and it is bad) and a snack for your little one. They do normaly offer food but the little one will get sick for sure. Have fun!! PS if you take a trip go to Chichenitza (sp) its great but a long drive.

Umbrella stroller is an absolute must to take with you. We go to Cancun extremely often, 10-12 times a year and my wife always brings to much for our kids. I would stick with the essentials and bring toys or books etc to keep your child busy.

Medicines and the like if needed can be purchased anywhere, if needed. Personally I look at it this way that if I really need it and it costs a little more so be it, it is better then stressing out and trying to remember to take everything with you.

If you child drinks milk, the only place to get milk in 1/2 gallons similar to USA milk is Wal-Mart and Costco. There is not a huge section for milk like here in USA, but regular milk is there if you look!

have fun and relax,

Take plenty of BOTTLED WATER for her. Or you'll regret it.
