Pesos of course! Many, maybe most, businesses will accept dollars and they want you dollars, but they will give a an exchange rate less advantageous than the official rate. If you are visiting here as a tourist exchange your dollars for pesos. Have a nice time!

ferrari_zz
Of course pesos you can echange it in many places here, if you want to use dollar you can, and they will acept it, but you will get bad deals for that, it is beter if you change it before

I´m Mexican and I recommended to you change your money to pesos only you go to the DF.
If you go to Cancun, there prefers dollars.

Sorry for my Spanglish, I hope I can help you.

Pesos, it makes you appear less ignorant.

your U.S dollar goes farther if you change to pesos.

Well i have just moved to Monterreyin Mexico(in the north) from England and everyone preferes you to use Pesos. Its the currency of the country. Its like saying does England prefere Euros or Pounds?

I had trouble getting a cappucino in Puerto Vallerta using U.S. dollars, since I ran out of change in Pesos. Not getting coffee in the morning is a crisis.

When i went to Mazitlan at first i used the dollar but when i started getting my change back in pesos i didn't know if i was recieving the correct change so i began using the peso and it was a little easier to figure out what was going on.

Niall S
if you are travelling from the UK, take Sterling and you will get a much better exchange rate in the Airport, Airside, meaning before you have gone out the doors

Alex
I woud exchange the your U.S. dollars to pesos because you can never be sure if you are getting your correct change back or not. When I fly there I tend to exchange my money if I'm staying there. Ohhh and be sure to have some left over U.S. dollars because you never know if it will come in to use while there.. Good Luck! :-)

sandrarosette
I would exchange some of your money for pesos, but not all, every time I have visited there, I have found one or two shoppes that only accept the peso, but the majority will accept the dollar, especially around the border towns. Deeper in Mexico you go, the more they want the peso.

Sarah
Usually they accept US dollars in all places accept the shops and stuff on the street. But its always good to be safe so if your going to Mexico you can exchange your money at your hotel.

depends where in Mexico, in the north they actually prefer the dollar, where as towards the south more transactions are conducted in Pesos,However you can pay in dollars as well.....
stick with the dollar

kevindoran77
