Before reading your explination I had already thought of February. lol. January through march are the best times (weather wise) February is probably the best because you won't be running into spring breakers as much either. If spring breakers being around is what you want i would recommend anywhere from last week of february through mid march! |

February is a really good time to go!!! March is owned by Spring breakers. April and May are also great months to go. After May and before january hurricane season is in effect so its always risky and iffy. have fun |

Again, it pays to go south of the border in the wintertime to escape the cold. However, just like everything else, the crowds go as well to escape the cold also.
On the other hand, who wants to go there in the heat of summer. Good Luck.
By the way, if you are going to Mexico to see the country, take a bus ride to see the sites as well as places within the distance of Cancun, such as Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Merida,etc.
If on the other hand, your vacation is based on hitting the bars, going to the beach and just shopping, then Cancun is where you will only be going to and nothing more.

I am from the US and live in Cancun year around and I haven't found a bad time to be here yet...
From people that don't live here I always hear "hurricane season"...don't go...here in Cancun there have only been 2 "big named hurricanes" in 23-years (Gilberto and Wilma).
To actually answer you question...February is a great time to come down it is warm, sunny, low humidity...

A friend of my wife's had her honeymoon at a resort just south of Cancun in February 2007 and they had great weather. February is well after hurricane season, so you don't have to worry about that. The only issue you may have is crowds -- lots of people like to go someplace warm in February to get a break from the winter weather. The resort my wife's friend stayed at (it was one of the Iberostar resorts, can't remember which one) wasn't crowded though. |
