a first or second degree burn (minor) should be treated by holding it under cool to cold running water for 15 minutes. You can then put burn ointment on it & cover it with a dressing or bandage. Apply cool cloths to it for a couple of days until it begins to heal. NEVER EVER PUT GREASE, BUTTER, ANYTHING like that on a burn! Aloe vera gel is also excellent for burns, as long as they are minor.

I keep an aloe plant in my apartment. When I burn myself, I break off a piece and put the raw aloe goo from the inside of the aloe directly on the burn. I do this as soon after the injury as possible, too. The faster I get the aloe on, the faster and better my skin heals.

There's something about the aloe that makes the burn heal FAST.

This has worked for me for all kinds of burns - grease burn, the discovery that the wire at the bottom of my diswasher was a heating element, and even an unfortunately straw melting incident when I was a kid.

I recommend getting an aloe plant instead of the stuff in the bottle. The pure stuff seems to work best for me. You can pick them up in various places - I've seen them in grocery stores, planting centers (garden stores/nurseries/planting centers), home improvement places, Target... they're all over.

Hope your burn heals quickly!

i had a 2ND AND 3RD degree burn on my hand after my "old" room mate caught my house on fire with a pan of hot grease and i put it out but burned my hand in do so the neighbor told me to put mustard on it.I THOUGHT SHE WAS CRAZY. but i did not have the money to go to the doc. so i tried it . the next day it did not hurt at all!! she told me to put Vitim "E" on it and i have now scar at all

I mean, you are suppose to put like Nerosporin or something like that on it, but I run for the closest thing near by. I have put Vaseline on it, Peroxide, and even butter. I mean, it is so cold and the pain is so severe, that you just want it to stop hurting. The butter and cold meat is not the best solution, go for the medicated creme or gel.

A burn feels better when the oxygen supply is cut off to it, and you can achieve that by putting loads of petrolium jelly on the burn, and maybe a bit of clingfoil over that so the jelly doesn't get everywhere.

Depending on how bad the burn is, it might take a day before the area can be allowed to dry without causing the deep throbbing pain. Then you can apply iodine or mercurochrome to dissinfect it. When it becomes clear that there is no chance of infection, keep the area well moisturised with an oil (or petroleum jelly) to minimise the scarring.

First, immediately apply cold water to the burned area, ice is good, too. Give it some time to cool the skind down, you will also notice that the ice will numb the burn. Aloe Vera is one of the best natural things you can apply to a burn, but it does not contain any anaesthetic to kill the pain.

do not use any petroleum based ointment, aloe vera is good. I have used mud, yes, mud. using very cold water to make the mud and place it on the burn(unless you have broken the skin then do not do this)It is amazing how much heat it takes out of the burn. I know it sounds 'dirty' but it has worked for me and I have done this for one of my children when we were camping (shortly after she burned herself) and it didn't even turn red, I know it should have because she stuck her led on the metal part of a cooking grill close to the ground.

God Bless

I generally run it under cold water, pat it dry and then put a thin layer of triple antibiotic ointment with pain reliever on it. leave it uncovered so it can breathe.

If you can't get to all the things the previous ppl have listed.......try mayonaisse.........soothes the burn and helps keep it from blistering.......yes it works

NOOOOOOOOO! No grease, grease will make it worse! Use Aloe Vera, and I keep it in the fridge so it is nice and cool when I put it on the burn!

When I worked in a Mexican restaurant, I burned my hand on a fajita skillet. The Hispanic cook grabbed my hand, poured sour cream on the burn and wrapped in in syran wrap. 15-20 minutes later, there was no pain and hardly a mark left where I had burned it. The coolness of the sour cream, the fat content in it, and the way the syran wrap kept air from moving across the burn kept it from worsening. (This was immediately after it happened, it may not work for an older burn.)

it sounds funny but soak your hand in milk , it will take the sting away .then go and get some udder bawm . it is used for cow pipples . it work on allot of things , sunburns is what I use it for and I keep the tan . it cools your skin and lets out the heat it comes in a cream the jar is white and black , you can get it fleet farm . or ace hardwear .

100% pure lavender oil. It works on burns as well as insect stings. You can buy it at stores like GNC.

suerteDperro
Vitacilina. It works miracles if you can find it. (Easy in Mexico, never seen it in US.)

When you've burned yourself go run it under cold water for a while then sit with an ice pack on it, once you've had enough of the freezing feeling best to put something like polysporin on it to prevent the air from touching it and causing you pain, at this point you should have it looked at to make sure you haven't really hurt yourself.

ALSO AALL THESE OTHERS THAT KEEP TALKING ABOUT THERE ALEO PLANTS AND PUTTING IT ON. DON'T PUT ALEO ON A BURN THAT HAS BEEN CAUSED BY A HEAT SOURCE. SUN YES, FIRE, BURNNER, OVEN....NO. YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY STARTED AN INFECTION YOU WANT TO STOP IT WIITH THE NEOSPORIN OR POLYSPROIN.

you should never put anything on it because it can burn your skin even more because believe it or not your skin is continueing to burn as you run it under water or put aloe vera on it. You dont want to match the temp of the burn so by evening it out and running it under nuke warm water it can stop the burning and the pain will eventuially go away!!! dont put aloe vera because it will continue to burn!!!
