Where do you change dollars into pesos? What would be better to use? Will Mexico take either currency?

you can exchange your dollars for pesos at any mini booth (almost like one of those old school phone booths) and there they can assist you. I typically find those boths to be in the central area of the city that you are in. Mostly, people in Mexico wouldn't care if it were peso or dollar because they could just go and exchange it for themselves. However, exchange the money that you would like to spend in Mexico and not have any pesos left over because if you want to turn your pesos back into dollar, it's gonna cost you.

You can change your dollars at many places inside of MX but I would advice to use a bank such as Banorte. They have the best exchange rate and you get more for your money. You can also get exchange money at bus stations, and in small side stores but they usually do not give you a good rate, usually using the pesos being 10 to 1 when actually now our rate is 14 to 1. In many places in Mexico you still can use American money. Mexicans love to see dollars, but again watch your exchange rate because many times you will not get the same days rate, a lower rate that does not make your money go far. Hope this helps.

!!vg!!
In mexico its better for you to change your money into pesos first because the value of the peso can change, rather if you pay in dollars you can get cheated out of your money's worth.

you can also go to ANY bank (they may ask you for ID or passport) and sometimes grocery stores like Soriana and walmart. just ask before you buy anything.

I learned that the best place to have your dollars into pesos is walmart, but you have to purchase something and sometimes they don't take larger bills, I would say that your best option would be a bank.

We always try to exchange dollars at an HSBC bank. They generally have the best rate.
I prefer to use pesos (or whatever the currency is in the country I'm in at the moment.).
They will take USD in most major cities, toruist spots, etc but generally they'll use a 10:1 rate and you'll lose out. It's over 14.50 now.

you can change them at you bank but if you go to an exchange house in mexico you will get a better rate. so maybe exchnage $100 or so here just so you have some and do the rest in mexico. and it depends on what part of mexic you are going to weather or not the take dollars.. i went to aguascalientes and they took pesos only but in places like tijuana and juarez they will take both. but if you are going by plane my ? was in what currency do you have to pay for your luggage when you come back so i keep some in american money and some pesos. and the airport took american money just for the luggage but get their rates so you know and try not to go over on your luggage its cheaper to atleast buy another bag than to pay the overage. good luck
