Cancun is in Mexico. It is located on The Yucatan peninsula. It is beautiful full of wonderful people, sites and great historical sites of Mayan ruins. It is north of the country of Belize. Another way to locate it on a map would be to locate Texas in the USA and it is south on the Gulf of Mexico its part of the Caribbean. A wonderful place to visit but a bit pricey for Mexico.

Geographically, Cancun is in no way connected to the Gulf of Mexico, it is on the Mexican Caribbean and is located in the State of Quintana Roo, which is one of the states that forms part of the Yucatan Peninsula, but with beaches only on the side of the Mexican Caribbean. The other states, Yucatan, Tabasco and Campeche, have beaches on the Gulf of Mexico side.
