las ventanas and la palmilla are now considered two of the best resorts/hotels in north america. if you are going down with a large group, might also make sense to rent a home in the pedregal. can get some incredible places there overlooking the pacific and/or the marina.
if you are more budget conscience, you may want to stay at the finisterra which is right in the middle of the city.

I just got back from there and stayed at Melia San Lucas Hotel. Fantastic place, recently remodeled, awesome pool bar, 5 min walk from down town. And best part - breakfast bloody mary and mimosa bar. |
