Can highly recommend the Cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula - have a go at diving in them they are truly amazing

Wherever you want! It's a beautiful country and they will welcome you with open arms. However, I would keep your distance from the border states and travel farther south, as some of the northern areas can be violent (though rarely directed at tourists). The Atlantic, Gulf, and Caribbean coasts are all beautiful as are mountainous and other inland areas, the people are warm and gracious, the food is wonderful, and the views are fantastic. |

It all depends on what you want to do.
If you want to sit around on a beach, there are dozens of first class resorts.
If you want to hike and see beautiful scenery, go to Copper Canyon or one of the volcanoes like Orizaba.
If you want to go to a nature preserve or do ecco-tourist activities there are dozens of those too. Two I like are the Monarch Butterfly preserve near Morelia and the cloud forests of Oaxaca.
If you want to see artists villages and chocolate making visit Oaxaca. San Miguel de Allende also has many local artists.
If you want to see beautiful colonial architecture, there are many cities to choose from but I especially like Zacatecas.
If you want to see ancient ruins, they are literally scattered all over the country, with new discoveries being made all the time.
Get a good guide book like the Moon Guides series for the area you decide on, and the Peoples Guide to Mexico and you'll be set. |
