Where should we visit in Mexico?

My two friends and I are wondering what the best city(ies) would be to visit if we went to Mexico. We are interested in history, so being able to see ruins and authentic culture would be nice, we are all pretty fluent in Spanish so we would really like to get an authentic city and cultural experience (rather than the luxurious tourist one), and we're all under 21 so somewhere not highly based off its drinking parties and is safe! Can you help us?! =)

Hi, I really like Cancun for the description you're giving. For the most part, Cancun has a reputation of being a party tourist are where like you say, it based off its drinking parties, but this area is very safe, has a high level of Americans (which can be really comforting to know they're near) and one hour away, you're in another world. In a complete different place than the touristy thing. Two hours drive, there are the Mayan pyramids, These are awesome structures, it is so amazing to these ancient buildings and all the "technology" present in them. They are clear examples of astronomical tools that were used by Mayans to calculate star constellations, calendar, seasons, etc...The whole "world will end in 2012" is because of this culture. Then there's awesome scuba diving where any where along the beach you can get taught by competent instructors and they'll have you in the water same day, very safe and extremely beautiful. The water is so clear, it's like you're on a space walk more than swimming You can also snorkel. Everywhere nearby, once you get away from the touristy, there's a lot of fun to be had too, Mexican style fun. Not something that's overdone and too Americanized. I think this is a great place, and it's ok to drink a little. Mexico legal drinking age is 18 and it might be a little fun to run into a cute person your age to share a nice moment with. That's just my opinion, but I hope this helps. If you think it does, I'd appreciate the ten points, thanks!

Go to the Yucatan..you can see Mayan ruins..snorkel..Take an ecology tour..lots of stuff..and it is still relatively safe.

You can visit the lots of cities in Mexico like Acapulco City, Cancun City, Coahuila City, Ixtapa City, Monterrey City & some another cities also. For more information you can find it from http://www.stayresmexico.com.

Land at Mexico City and take a tour to Teotihuacan Pyramids close by and Xochimilco. Next day, take a tour visiting Colonial cities like Queretaro, Guanajuato and San LuĂs PotosĂ. If you really want to see what Mayan civilization was like take a tour southeast called the Mayan Route. Bus tours are really recomendfull in Mexico as the buses are really confortable (first class) and not expensive.

marci knows best
Zacatecas and Durango are fairly close to the border and both are steeped in Mexican History. Look for any of Mexico's "MagicCities" and you won't be disappointed.
