Which is a better vacation spot Cozumel or Playa del Carmen? |
I am going on a honeymoon in June and have it narrowed down to these two places. I was wondering which you thouhgt is better and if you have traveled to either of them. Maybe there isn't much difference at all. Thanks for the help. |

I have traveled extensively to both. Cozumel is fantastic if you are a certified diver.The hotels ( of which there are many-contrary to what somene else wrote )are very "diver friendly". It is an island that caters exclusively to divers. There are a few night clubs, restaurants and shopping to do during the day.The heat during the day is unbearable unless you're out on a boat! Horse back riding along the beach is fun-shopping in 100 degree sun and high humidity during the day,is not! But again, unless you are a diver I would avoid Cozumel- it's a one day trip at most. Playa del Carmen is a great choice for honeymooners. Cancun is a 30-45 minute drive away, tons of shopping, great restaurants, zoo's and Xel-Ha are easily accessible. From Playa, you can drive 2-3 hours to the Mayan ruins ( really nice way to see Mexico ). You can snorkel right off of Playa ( beautiful beach btw !). Rent a car and explore, the people there are very friendly and getting lost is half the fun. Tons to do and see in Playa- scuba dive in Cozumel, that pretty much narrows it down. Have fun!!! |

Just got back from Coz; depends on what you are looking for. Playa is going to be more of a party town, even has a Sam's Club. Coz is definitely quieter, more laid-back, and dive oriented. |

I have been to Cozumel and it is a blast, but did you know you can go one place and always pay to take a boat ride and go visit the other? It isnt very expensive, that way you can visit both while you are there. |

Both of them are great, but for honeymooners I think you´ll find better sites and scenes in Cozumel. Just watch it, since it might also be a bit more expensive. |

There is not going to be to much of a difference between the two. I would choose playa del carmen though. Cozumel has a port and so there will be alot more congestion with the cruise ships. I also felt like playa del carmen was more secluded and would make for a much more romantic honeymoon. And if you want to visit cozumel the ferry to get there is in playa del carmen so you could do a day trip to cozumel. I also recomend Xel ha it is an awesome place and worth the money. |

I would say Playa del Carmen.
There's not too many hotels in Cozumel and if you'd like you can do a day trip to Cozumel via Ferry.
