Which of these places would you go back to if visited: Cozumel, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Isla del Mujeras? |
I am thinking about taking a trip this year and am trying to decide between these four places. I know I can get to any of them from the other but wanted to know what people thought was the best place to stay for say a 5 day vacation. I like a more quiet place but also somewhere i can have fun at night. Thanks! |

I've been to all of those places. I love Playa Del Carmen. It's only forty minutes from Cancun, and it's so much more relaxed. There is great food, good shopping and it just has a really great atmosphere. Isla de Mujeres is very small. So is Cozumel. I suggest staying in Playa Del Carmen and visiting the other places. Isla de Mujeres and Cozumel are both really great places for day trips, but they don't offer enough to entertain for a full week. Cancun is pretty rowdy, and much larger than all the other places, but it can still be really great. I do have an affinity for Playa Del Carmen though, honestly it was my favorite. |

the all sound exotic and beautiful! Consider your travel companions and think of what you would all like to do for fun. Next, research to see which places accomadate all of your desires. If one of you is hoping to get massages and get pampered, research salons in all four places. Think of dining options, too. If you guys have your heart set on water activities, research them too. If you plan your vacation with an attempt to accomadate everyone's desires, you may be able to have a little more fun. Keep an open mind when travling...90% of the time, things don't work as plan. Be flexible and have fun! |

i have been to all of them and i woud recommend isla mujeres. it is the most tranquil (least drunk spring breakers) and has a great beach. i found cozumel to be sleazy as all get out. Playa del carmen is also nice, but isla is your best bet for something smaller and more relaxing. it has been a few years since i have been down there though |

I have been to Cozumel, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen several times. When you cruise, most often you visit any or all of the places you have listed, mostly Cozumel. Getting between Cozumel and Cancun, on a ferry, is a 40 minute boatride over not so smooth waters. Make sure to take a Bonine (motion sickness tablet 4-6 hours before taking the ferry). Party groups travelling from the USA often visit Cancun. |

I have been to all but Isla del Mujeras and I would advise Playa del Carmen is by far the best for both relative serenity and fun places at night. |
