Which will be a better value, staying at an all Inclusive Resort or A Condo in Cancun, Mexico(websites below)? |
I'm planning on going to Cancun for Memorial Day Weekend. I was wondering which way is a good way to go. Here is website to go to for condos in the hotel zone (http://www.vrbo.com/115713). You have a kitchen, but not all inclusive. Or, would it be better to stay somewhere like Gran Caribe, Hyatt Regency etc(with all inclusive packages)? Please give me all opinions. I've done both, they have their ups and downs, I like booking condos so I can take my friends out to enjoy the real Mexican culture for food, dining, etc, but I also love the all inclusives.......not sure, it would be what your prefer.....

When renting a condo, food, drink, and activies are an additonal expense whereas at an all inclusive everything is included in the price, hence the name. |

I totally recomend all inclusive that way u know ur takin care of as far as food and drinks some activites(and some transportation) The only money u would need would be for tours, other activities and shopping. Or god for bid u get robbed or lose ur money at least u know u can still eat the rest of ur trip. |

I have stayed at the moon palace. It was an all inclusive, and there were 4 of us. The room was nice, the pool was nice, the beach was terrible (the moon palace is off the strip, and suffers from constant seaweed floating onto the beach), and the food was just plain awful. This goes for all of the palace resorts (they allow you visit and dine at any of the resorts). It was so bad that we went out for dinner on 5 occasions over a 10 night vacation.
My recommendation is no all inclusive.
Atlantis in the Bahamas would be an exception to my above comments. |

It really depends on you. Are you willing to go to the market and prepare food? You are on vacation after all. The all inclusive deal means no cooking, no worries. the condo is generally a better deal, but you do have to be willing. The nice thing about the condo is that you can eat out occasionally w/o the guilt. I personally prefer the condo. We love going to the Mexican markets and eating stuff you can't get here. markets also sell many prepared foods you can eat in your condo. All in all the condo is probably better for a conscientious family, while the all inclusive is more for the unprepared and families whom don't want to deal with cooking and cleaning. |

My son and daughter-in-law went on an all inclusive vacation in Cancun and it was wonderful. They paid for it before they left and had no worries there.! Try it. I think you will be happy |

All-Inclusive is the only way to go, be pampered and enjoy your trip, with no unexpected or surprise cost. Be careful on the hotel or resort, some have restrictions on non-top shelf alcohol etc. I Personaly Recomend the Palace Resorts, you can use any of the resorts while there so your choice of food and dining is like 40 resteraunts. Plus free excursions. Check E-bay for members selling a week at their price to save some money. You won't be dissapointed. |

From a travel agent's perspective, I would tell you the all-inclusive is your best bet. You have everything all taken care of and all of your food and drinks are included.
If you took the condo, you would either have to go out to eat every meal or, once you arrived, would have to go grocery shopping and cook all your meals. Personally, I go on vacation so that I don't have to do those things. Also, if you've never been to that area, Cancun is very commercial, so my preference is to head to the Riviera Maya area (south of the Cancun Airport) as I prefer the resort settings.
If you choose an all inclusive, I'd recommend staying at one with a rating no lower than 4-star. All the resorts look nice, and although you might not care about the room quality, I'm sure you'd be concerned about the food quality. If my clients must stick to a strict budget, I recommend my clients spend fewer days in a 4 star resort than longer in a 3 star. Before you decide on a hotel, read the reviews of the hotel a www.tripadvisor.com. If you're a beach person, check the reviews for beach quality - all the pictures look like they have nice beaches, but some are just a lagoon, others are non-existent since the last round of hurricanes.
Contact a good travel agent and have them book an all inclusive vacation that includes you air, transfers, hotel, meals, beverages, and trip insurance. If you need one, please call me toll-free at 866-485-8175. |
