rhino720 has a good answer, You see when D.E.A in the states close the drug route in the atlantic and the caribbean sea that went from Colombia to Florida, Mexico became the place to smuggle drugs into your Country and the story is already like Rhino is saying. President Calderon is making a brave effort to stop them, but obviously they are fighting back, so is getting worst before starts getting better..
Most of the killings happened among people that has something to do in the drug business or people who are fighting drugs and found a revenge from the cartels. Not the common people, I live in Chihuahua Mexico, and i feel safer than in Houston Texas or L.A. believe me
As for Texan United answered, you should travel more, and believe my words now that your country is on big economic slow down, you will need Mexicans that make trade in your border towns, your answer only tells me your big lack of knowledge about mi nation. |

It's the drug cartels trying to control the flow of drugs into the US. Because there are so many people in the US who will pay money for all the drugs that come out of Mexico. The drug cartels are making fortunes transporting these drugs and selling them to Americans. The killing is mostly in the border states, where the members of one cartel want to eliminate another cartel and have a larger share of the drug flow.
To stop the killing, get all the drug users in the US to stop using--that's the only sure way to stop this (but it probably won't happen). The Mexican Army is trying to kill or jail cartel members, but there is so much money to be made, that others who weren't in the drug trade before will get into the business to make money. |

Calderon is actually fighting the cartels and they have jailed or killed alot of the key players. The demand from the US for drugs continues, so what is going on now is a power struggle from those who want to get a foothold in the smuggling business. No, it is not against americans or citizens. Lately some innocent civilians have been killed, but usually if a person is killed in a drug related incident, they are not innocent on some level. |

most of the violence your seeing on tv is related to drug cartels. im not exactly sure of all of the causes but apparently these cartels control drug trade in different parts of the country and it seems that they are either battling each other or government crackdowns. but i agree with you it is scary and its making me reconsider moving to mexico |

People die everywhere, not just in Mexico! |

For the very same reasons everybody dies anywhere else:
We are mortals.
There are diseases.
There's violence.
There's the aging process.
There's extreme poverty.
As for people being killed, TV shows and news emphasize this and, a lot of times, it's overblown.
People getting killed by just walking over there?
Are you serious?
That's definitely an exaggeration. |

Because the mexican people don't appreciate that we are coming to their country and supporting their economy. Go somewhere else, you don't get treated well in Mexico |

The massive drug war between US and Mexico, Mexican drug lords hate people from the US and alot of US people going over does not return because of being killed, remember that Mexico is a 3rd world country and that is not a good thing in any way or fashion, drug lords are taking over the country and killing people who get in there way or police or regular people because they are in the wrong place at the time or they are not liked in the area they get in and then killed by drug lords...... they advise no US people going in mexico unless you totaly have to.......... a 3rd world country as mexico does not have our same laws as the US and there for can pretty much do as they want in a 3rd world country.......... take Iraq for what it is worth, it is a 3rd world country...................... IF the world went into a 3rd world war the US and Mexico would be enemys in that war, even though we are connect by land together........... acourse mexico dont have a chance against the US but the crossing in a war would be easy to get in the US if that happend......... most people think on the border line of mexico that its just mexico, it is a diffrent country then the US and people dont get it because the border states in the US are so close to mexico...................... Dont go where you dont belong and your not safe.......... |
