Why do Mexicans want to live in the USA?

First of all Jerry Madonna is so wrong, if the 1846 border line of Mexico could still be the border today, well simply the Mexican people would be crossing illegally to Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma etc, WHY??? because you pay better wages!!, the people of Mexico cross the border to earn money thats it.. no re-colonization, no conspirasy of anything, belive me no Mexican with a green card wants to make the south west of the USA part of Mexico again, they want to be US Americans thats all.

Mexicans work in places that USamericans don´t like to work any more like picking produce during harvest season.

Also Oregón was lost by SPAIN to the ENGLISH before Mexico or the USA existed, in the early 1700´s.

Why not Canada?

1.- Canada has a more realistic policy for inmigrants, so if you want to be Canadian you simply can apply at the embassy and if your skills are needed you will be able to go there eventualy.
2.- they have already a program that allows mexicans to go legally to work during the harvest season and plenty go and later come back.

3.- Is too far away, and is too cold. and they don´t hire illegal alliens, like is custumary in the USA.

Another thing I want to add, the Spanish never took our culture away, we have traditions that dates many centuries before the spanish finally came here, the architecture and life style, race and everything has a lot of native touches here and there,

The only way for Mexicans to stop going to the USA will be when Mexico finaly have the salary conditions that offer the population no reason to go and find a job in the USA.
and belive me is not that much since in here you can live like a king with a salary that back in the USA will be considered low.

Mexico has also a lot of problems since a lot of ilegal alliens are working in Mexico, mostly people from Central America and Cuba, most of them working their way to travel eventualy to the USA, some of them never achieve their goal and stay in Mexico.

cause USA is closer and to go to Canada you have to go through the US (duh....unless you go like all the way around which seems pretty pointless :D) and the US is supposed to be united (the UNITED States of America) and the Land of Opportunity so ppl who live in Mexico and want a change or want to do better in work of life or something come to the USA. that's my opinion

Two major reasons, primarily, Canada is a lot longer walk.

Secondly, many Mexicans actually enter Canada legally.

There are those who are qualified to enter Canada as permanent residents based on job skills, education, sponsorship, etc. In that category Canada has seen a large increase in applications from Mexico in recent years.

Apart from those there are many temporary foreign worker programs that allow both skilled trades and farm workers to legally enter Canada.

There has been a temporary farm workers visa program since 1966. Over 20,000 Mexicans enter Canada each year as part of that program alone. They can stay for up to 8 months, basically the growing season, and then they go home to Mexico before the snow starts flying.

A poor paying job in the USA, which most Americans don't find acceptable, is still much better than a job (with extremely low wages) or no job at all in Mexico!

Think about it this way:
even in a slump, you could go down many streets in US cities and collect enough "trash" (unwanted material goods) to furnish a house, yard and garage. My point is that the US is inundated with stuff and things, such that most of the citizenry have more than we can use. We toss possessions out as we get newer ones, this is our lifestyle.
The Mexicans coming over, by far, are representative of the segment of their society which is destitute (or nearly). It's out of desperation they come, why would they leave a beautiful land like Mexico, if not due to severe hardship?
Most illegals are sending earnings back to needy family members.

Question: how do you know Americans are having an economic slump?
Answer: we give up some coffee and drive a little less.

It appears there's still enough to go around.
What'll it take to see that one planet, one people, one uniting body of principles is needed for all?

Just also keep in mind that most of them probably don't want to move here OR Canada, they are just getting out of Mexico so that they and their families can survive.

I'm not really sure if their economy is going as bad as ours, but you should know that 11% of their population controlls 88% of their countrys money. And by control I mean use and distribute to other rich Mexican families leaving the rest of the population with basically nothing.

They want to go to the usa because they think they`ll get better paid jobs. Just because of that. If the usa would regularize the immigration it would be better for both countries. Lastly the people form the us have been fooled about the illegal alliens are the ones who have the responsibility about the economic crash in the country, but the facts show that the war against irak have vacuumed the treasure reserves and made some people ultrarich, like George Bush. Don`t be naive, the responsibility of the economic crash is because of the War.

Mexicans consider much of what you and I call USA as old Mexico. California Oregon new Mexico Arizona, and others, part of a repatriation act. After the Spanish landed changed the religion and language took everything including every artifact and leaving the country without an identity except the one the Spanish gave them. This is the reason Mexico is so poor. Who loaded up those ships that took there economy and history, the Mexicans.

Cuz they earn a lot more money an hour in wat they make in a day!!!! canada is too far and unknown. No mexican talks about canada

Two reason I see:
1.- We can, actually, WALK into USA (We are closed!)
2.- Mexicans in Canadá are mainly LEGALS, therefore you see low mexican ilegals there. Canadiasn accept us, either as hard workers or as specilized.
