Why do mexicans do tile work?

i think a logical answer would be that many parts of mexico have clay, readily available to make tiles. tiles are the main material used in flooring, because it's widely available and historically a prefered look. (just like houses in the northwest are made of wood...because there are lots of trees, and houses in texas are made of brick, because there aren't any trees!)

so...if tiles are widely used in mexican homes, both on the floor and in the kitchen/bathroom/patio areas...then it makes sense that there are many professional tile layers...to provide labor for this demand.

someone has to get the job done

Because it is good money, and they enjoy doing it. It is part of the culture. Lozeta is very popular in the majority of the houses here in Mexico. It is beautiful, but difficult to keep clean!!!

So that they may feed their families. Same basic reason that anyone works.l

Lucy
Not all Mexicans do tile work - gees !!!! Love Mexican tile though and it's quite possible that because of the raw materials and talent found in Mexico that tile work is a popular choice of employement.

mawderuiz
Because the pay is really good. Many mexican houses do not have tile. Only the rich people can pay to have someone come and put tile in their house.
