From the last answer posted here by yet another ignorant American...it's apparant that they don't want us Canadians there! My advice would be to stay away from Mexico and spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere. Let's see how they make out without all the Canadian Tourists...now that would be interesting!

What! 2 or 3 Canadians out of about 2 or 3 million or so a year who visit the country? That's freaking you out? Listen bozo, more Canadians have been murdered in the past 5 years in New York City than have been murdered in Mexico since the end of the last Ice Age!

The Mexican tourist areas are some of the best guarded and protected by the Mexican government than almost any other tourist country on Earth! It is FIVE TIMES safer to visit Puerta Vallarta than it is to visit Malibu Beach!

You ask: "why do we keep going on vacation there?" listen from a Canadian who has lived here for 15 years to a Canadian obviously terrified of Mexico and Mexicans: why don't YOU just stay home.......

Anyway.

That couple that was killed is still being investigated by the Canadian gov't right? And aren't there some Canadians being looked at as suspects? Then that can't be conclusively "blamed" on Mexico. As far as the killing in Acapulco, that is a sad story and hopefully some justice will happen... No thanks to the Mexican gov't.

Murders happen everywhere... even in the great white North. So instead of using the tragedy as an excuse to bash an entire country, how about using your voice to pressure YOUR gov't (whichever that may be) to let the Mexican gov't know that we are not happy. If you threaten their tourist dollars, you will see action.

Let's be honest, because the Canadian military is nothing to fear.
If you guys had done anything since world war II the world might fear you, but since you haven't..... well you know the result.

I am not sure who those Canadians were and why they were killed. It is a shame.

Here in Mexico, it is not customary to kill tourists. On the contrary! Tourism is one of the biggest industries in Mexico, so why spoil it?

I am sure it was an unfortunate event.

Please do not overgeneralize. I like Canada, have been there several times, and although I've felt safe there, I've heard some horror stories as well, coming from native Canadians.
