?Why do some Mexicans-Americans think Mexicans are homogenous?? |
This is what many of them have told me.Like there are no white Mexicans. The demograhics of Mexico show Mexico asa mixed race country. That claims 2% Asian,1% black,10% Caucasian,25% Natives & the rest is called mixed Whitespanish & native blood. But many Mexican Americans have told "All Mexicans are brown" These people not from Mexico, but rather there Grandfathers(Abuelitas) or Parents are. There are many Guerros in Northern Mexico,I've seen people with blue eyes & brown hair there. My friends from Mexico will tell you this, but i've met many American born Mexicans who said this is never true.Basketball Star Eduardo Najera & Julieta Venegas are from Northern Mexico & look very Spanish,if you ask me.I've seen Mexicans in every shade, from Cinnamon to yellow to white, they are very diverse. For the record,I'm not trying to offend anyone. But I've meet many MexicansAmericans who said they are a homogenous people. Why is this??? Additional Details Marques Houston is Mexican. |

Because they don't know the actual México.
Besides, (sadly and cruel but true) the most of mexican migrants (NOT all of them) are from the more poor areas, where "brown mexicans" live at.
The cruel fact is that white mexicans are usually in better economic conditions, and not need to migrate to get more money or live as well as in a richer country. México is a country of huge social and cultural differences.
Also, many of mexican migrants are not as well educated as non-migrant mexicans, it means they have less knowledge about their own country (or anything; like the american culture, therefore, they have more troubles to adapt to USA than other mexicans, wich actually are not wishing to leave México).
I'll send you some interesting links about mexican "criollos". ("criollo" means born in México but desendent from white spanish). Have fun. The better part is that you will must practice your spanish (don't be worried, only reading, not listening)

The Mexican-Americans who claim this are ignorant about their geneology and race. Most of these don't even speak spanish and don't care to. It's sad. |

they are ignorant. |

I'll tell you why, because some people are ignorant. It's important for everyone to know their roots. I can't stand when people say Mexicans are half hispanic and half indian. Practically all of my family originates from Europe. That is why there is not a single darker skinned person in my family. For example, my families come from Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, and who knows where else. My grandmother is redish brown haired and green eyes. My other grandmother is brown haired and hazel eyes. I think my grandmothers father had some Native American in him, because myu grandma's mother was light skin blue eyes. All I know is that I have black hair and medium brown eyes because of the Italian in me. The people in Mexico vary from very light skin/eyes to darker skin/eyes. Don't be ignorant and say every Mexican is Spanish and Aztec. Most of the Aztecs died out because of the diseases that were left by Cortes and his men. So therefore, many Mexicans aren't even part Aztec. Not all Mexicans are brown. A lot of those who are born in America to a Mexican couple are very ignorant. |

Cause they not really Mexicans if you ask me.
Also mot of them come from small towns where there only one doctor. Just check Guadalajara probably the second largest city and most of them are light skin and blue eyes. |

A separate listing for Hispanic is not included because the US Census Bureau considers Hispanic to mean a person of Latin American descent (including persons of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin) living in the US who may be of any race or ethnic group (white, black, Asian, etc.) |
