We do actually, a lot of manufacturing plants moved down to Mexico. The simple reason is they have no regulations down there, so there is no government red tape to dive up the cost of manufacturing sky high. Might be the same for taxes too.
The result is products can be made way cheaper down in Mexico because they are freer than America, at least in this way. So we are seeing more and more products with labels saying "Made in Mexico."

Tonalc-1 thanks very much for the Ross Perot link, I wish he would have won and the people were not again duped. We are heading for communism if we don't stop voting Republican or Democrat.

Many U.S. companies have plants in Mexico, mainly because of the cheap labor they can get there. Perhaps if our plants would pay a reasonable wage to the Mexican workers, they wouldn't feel the need to come here to feed their families.

Companies there include GE, Maytag, Black & Decker; today, more than 1300 US companies are operating more than 2200 factories in Mexico. They employ more than 500,000 Mexican workers.

Are you serious, where do you think most American factories are relocating to. They are all mostly in Mexico, they are all down there paying Mexicans a pitance, Its a disgrace what we do to Mexican people, taking advantage of them and what not.

Enigma
There are lots of them already, and outsourcing deals .

Foreign investment in Mexico amounts around USD $20 billion a year, from which just 20 to 25% comes from the U.S. Isn't this surprising? Americans prefer to invest in China, thousands of miles away, while Germans, Japanese and even Chinese invest in Mexico because of its proximity to the U.S. During 2006, China received nearly $650 bn in investment, mostly from the U.S. If Mexico had received a little from that big amount, a lot less Mexicans would migrate to the U.S in seek for employment. It is really a shame !

why don't we just built restaurants in Mexico, meat packing plants, and any other industry that needs workers to succeed. It would be really cool to see bridges built in Mexico crossing the border.
