It is not illegal...thousands do it every day. Yu do need prper I.D., just like you do do enter any country. And, citizens of other countries need proper I.D., and some times visas, to enter the U.S. I would be interested to know why you think it is illegal for Americans to cross the Mexican border.

It's another country and we are not citizens of Mexico. It works both ways, so you have to go about it the legal way.

For Pete's sake. Citizens of both countries can cross LEGALLY intot he other provided they show the required documents. Have you ever seen the border crossing's at Tijuana and Laredo? Tens of thousands cross A DAY.

Mexico is still observant to the original border treaty, where the 15 mile zone in the US/Mexico border was considered a free border area, meaning residents could cross freely on 24 hour day pass. Visas and permits would only be needed past the 15 mile check points. This made sense since many resources and infrastructure in the border region is shared. After the 70's, it was the US who stoped allowing free crossing into the US side of the border. Mexico has a very short list of countries that require visas. the US, Canada, and most of the EU only requires to pay an entry fee of $20US
YOU SEE ME? Hi HATER =)
