Have you ever been there? Even traveling to TJ (Tijuana) can get dangerous and that's only for the night. Try living in a country where the police officers are as corrupt as the drug smugglers. Where people can't stick toilet paper in the toilet because the sewage system can't handle it. Where there are almost zero programs for the betterment of citizens. That's why Mexicans want out. (Not that I'm advocating illegal immigration)

You should receive 100 points for the most stupid question of the year. Perhaps you should go to the trouble to come down to Mexico in your luxury car and visit one of the "comunidades" where people live on less than 1 US$ a day and kids eat nothing else than tortillas, beans and Coke and perhaps, just perhaps you will understand why so many Mexicans take the risk of crossing illegaly in search of a better life and the possibility of supporting their family. The next question is : why is there so much poverty in Mexico? The answer: because after 80 years of corrupt government, police and politicians Mexico has only been able to put to good use an extremely small part of the enormous wealth of natural resources it has. (oil, minerals, tourism etc) The larger part of this wealth (even with oil at 60 US $/barrel) has disappeared in Swiss accounts and offshore tax heavens.

Because America is known for being the melting pot and giving many opportunities to immigrants. Its much easier to have a better life here than where they are from. Education, SS, Welfare, assistance in so many ways.

I live in Texas and the biggest reason I hear from both illegals and legals is that it's easier money and the living is a lot better.

Apparently also, the housing is really rough in Mexico. They say that they can live in much better homes here than there. Most of them list this as the #1 reason

To be fair with you, i'll say that it's beacause we are neighbors, if the US where next to china the problem would be ever worst, ask to Europe, they have lots of asian immigrants, who have to travel even more and they do it.
However through Mexico also cross many ppl from center america, they sometimes get deported from Mexico if they get caught but with the mexicans, the government can't do a thing because they're free to be whereaver they want inside his country.

it seems that the Mexican people have decided that instead of educating themselves and developing their own country by establishing industry, developing technology, and making use of the resources that they have...they will just come to the United States and leech off that government.

Now, I'm not talking about the legal immigrants that go through the naturalization process, learn to speak English, and get legitimate jobs, pay their taxes, and become profitable members of society.

I'm talking about the ones that come here illegally. That sneak across the border, set up shop by taking an illegal job at a corrupt business place. File for medicaid and social security and welfare benefits for which they have contributed one single penny to help fund; and then demand better living conditions, better pay, schools that speak Spanish primarily, and the right to vote for changes that serve their own best interests.

What kills me is that after they do all those things, they still proclaim that Mexico is the best place on the face of the Earth. If it's so great, why are you here?

Migration is so rampant to the US because the US coddles to the migrants. If the US would grow a backbone over this issue, the influx of illegals would drastically decline.

There are better paying jobs in the US. There is a better civil protection force that is decidedly more honest (mexican police earn wages by being paid off by criminals). Food and clothing (basic needs) are at a cheaper ratio to pay than that of mexico. For what you earn in mexico, the % ratio to your needs are much higher.

I'll tell you three big reasons:

1st. There are no opportunities down here in Mexico as much as there are in the US and that is due to countless endemic problems: corruption, high uncertainty avoidance, and mindset among so many others...

2nd. The minimum wage in Mexico is about 4 USD a day, do you think you can live with that money having a wife and 4 children? not to mention the 40 million people that live with less than 1 USD a day...

3rd. Because we are neighbours. See Europe and all developed nations, where do immigrants come from mostly? from neighbouring countries !

Even tradition, you can go to small villages in Mexico and only see women and children, because all men go to the "other side" to get a better payment so they can send money back to their family and in turn they can have something to eat.

All the usual reasons - to make money, mostly. However, I've already made my money and want to go TO Mexico to spend it on tequila and ho's.

Try living there.. You only see the good side if you go on a tour.. Next time ask a cab driver to take you to his place. Then wil lknow..
