Why people in Mexico always want you to take them stuffs? |
Ok, so I'm going to Mexico next month for spring break (just one week). Anyways, my aunt in Mexico just ask my mom to send her
$ 500 in cloths ( that's a lot) of curse she will pay, but still that is crazy. Is it just me or people in mexico or other countries think we are rich. Why can they just accept a post card of a nice place in the U.S, or something like that. So is it just me or what? |

Ya, they do think people in the U.S. are rich and live great. I have Aunts, Uncles, Cousins in Mexico and its so annoying as soon as they know my family and I are going to visit, they call and ask for clothes and shoes! ugh its annoying. |

Because the clothes in Mexico of the same brand are usually more expensive, almost the double.
They definetely don't think you are rich. A person who lives in Mexico and can pay $500 in clothes, means she has a good income.
I think your aunt is the rich one here. No need to leave her country and be able to dress well. |

I think it's just you.
I'm mexican, and I also live here in the states but my family is always calling us to send them stuff like perfume and shiiizzzles.
Get over it, They think the U.S is like woah.
I mean wouldn't you want really cool Chanel Clothing from France if someone you knew lived over there?
I ask my family members to bring shitloads of candy from Mexico everytime they come.
So stock up in Candy!
Make your aunt buy you candy!
the candy over there is sooo good :D |

Well its just like FILLING THE FORMS is telling you, other wise a town like el Paso in texas wouldn´t be just like it. People on mexico love to buy clothes and other stuff in the USA either because its cheaper there or we lack from the product or because they want to sell it with a small profit; this last one is called "Fayuca" and its annoying sometimes, but also the reason why a small cities like El Paso or San Antonio have more malls than lets say New Orleans, or Montgomery Alabama, the trade with mexicans who spend their "pesos" in the US is a major economic income for all the states that border Mexico.. and others places like Miami. Miami not only have a great amount of trade with Mexicans but today it can be consider the representation of all Latin America in the USA, you will find the same situation but there will be a lot of people from Central America and south america aswell.
But the main reason in your case is "Fayuca" believe me. |

No, I totally agree. People in Mexico generally think that we that live in the USA are rich. Just because we live in a better country doesn't mean we're rich. We make more money per hour, and we live better lives, but that doesn't mean we're rich. |

Generally speaking the U.S. has better quality and more selection than they do in Mexico. When ever we go down we try to take them a treat, like scented soap, high quality toilet paper(theirs is like sandpaper) and a few other odds and ends. Our standard of living is usually much higher than theirs. We don't consider ourselves rich , but to them we are well off. |

I know that when my mom goes to El Salvador she always brings my cousins toys and cloths, its not about us being rich (cuz we SO are NOT) but it's about us having more than they could ever have, my aunts and uncles do the best they can but it's still a 3rd world country and any help they can get they appreciate it, but in ur aunts case it may just be that what she wants she can't find in Mexico and if she's paying for it, it's not a big deal. |

If your aunt is paying you back, i dont see what the problem is!!!
She just wants stuff which are unique in the place she stays.
Its your aunts money. Shes only asking you to buy a few stuff and carry it along.
I dont really think you should be upset with that!!! |

No its not just you. Some people (back home) or in other foreign countries hear that the streets of America are paved with gold and often take that saying literally. It really means that if you work hard that great things are attainable in this country, but it is not free money. Maybe your mom should let your family in Mexico know how long it take her to make $500 and how much of that money has to go to bills and rent and other living expenses. Maybe your mom can send something, but it doesn't have to be $500 worth, since that obviously causes her a financial strain. |
