There is NO Health RISK in the Cancun area at all. There are NO Travel Alerts are issued for this area at all. Cancun is open and doing business as usual. The strong swine type of flu is all over the world now, not just Mexico City. The W.H.O. says, "To restrict travel would be useless and not helpful". E-mail me directly in Cancun at robert@cancuncatamarans.com I have lived here 8 years. 1-888-335-1996 Anyone that says Mexico is not safe is an uninformed fear-monger and not a very smart person. They are only out to spread fear without knowing the facts, plain and simple.

It is safe right this minute. there is no H1N1 flu problem in the tourist areas or 99.9999 % of the rest of Mexico. There have been no new cases of swine flu in Mexico the past few days. Less than half the cases they thought were H1N1 flu, are now known to really have been that. Less than 1/30th of one percent of the population was affected. The flu is much weaker than they thought it was. It was almost totally confined to Mexico City, and mostly to one school. there were actually just over1000 cases in the entire country of over 110,000,000 million people There are over 200,000 cases or regular flu in the U.S. every year and an average of 36,000 deaths from that...hear any panic about that? Even the WHO has now said that the whole thing was blown WAAAAY out of proportion. Come to mexico and have a great vacation.

well they're saying now on the news that "swine flu is not the killer you think it is". So take that how you will, but I also read that experts say swine flu is not spreading as fast as they thought it would . could be good news.

Cancun doesn't have any case of the swine flu. I still don't know how some Spring breakers got the flu... There's no reports on Cancun.

If you take precautions even in your house or any place you travel you and you're family will be ok.

Allen M
Yes, you should come on your holiday, whether this whole flu thing will have completely disappeared worldwide is another thing, nobody knows that answer just yet.

I live here in Cancun, the closest cases reported of this FLU are 800 miles away.

Currently there are NO confirmed cases here in Cancun or the state of Quintana Roo... It is all Media Hype... frightening people to sell newspapers !!! After all, Good NEWS doesn't sell papers does it ??

The authorities all over the world are saying that they now have the virus contained and that Tamiflu seems to be helping people to avoid this virus.

If you want to take extra precautions wear a mask on the aeroplane and bring some alcohol gel hand cleaner with you, after all, there's probably more chance that you will catch something on the plane than sunning yourself on a Caribbean Beach.

This is the latest from the BBC who actually sent a reporter to Cancun to cover this story.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/america...

CNN are also reporting this saying the Hysteria is causing more problems that the actual Flu

There is flu in New York, Should all travel to the USA be banned? NO.. There is not and has not been any cases of the flu in, near or around Cancun. Please do not be caught in the trap the media outlet are have laid out. Now, that the media has reported the whole flu situation in the country of Mexico and the city of Mexico City totally wrong. I know this because I live here in Mexico. Their incorrect reporting has come around and bit them in the butt. The facts are that no new cases of flu have been reported by the government of Mexico in 48 hours. The flu never went beyond Mexico City. Cancun was never involved at all. The media blew everything up to make great news without facts. This morning their heads are down low and there is egg on their faces.

Seriously. If you are going to worry about a cold that is mild at its worst, I would advise you to never leave your house for fear of being struck by lightning. People who answer these questions are so paranoid that they can't distinguish fact from the paranoid media using scare tactics. Just look at the odds... 20 MILLION people living in Mexico City....only a couple hundred confirmed cases, most of them mild.Thats about .0015% of the population. It's not even spreading like the garden variety flu. You would be LUCKY to get this.I'm going to Playa del Carmen (Iberostar del Mar) on May 7, I'll be soaking up the sun and laughing at the paranoid. I'm more worried about sun burn than anything. Stop being so scared about the media and live your life. The media sold their stories/papers/ and scared the people. Now they'll move on to something else because this is already fizzling out. Go enjoy yourself. DON'T LISTEN TO THESE MEDIA SCARED PEOPLE, go have fun. :-)

Instead of you and your family go to Mexico, why don't you guys travel to BALNEARIO DE CAMBORIU, STATE OF SANTA CATARINA, in Brazil? The ocean water is warm, people are nice, the city is very beautiful and elegant, the Hotel installations are gorgeous and there is many delicious restaurants in front of the beach, love there, been there 2 times and I will go again this year. Have fun in your trip !!
Cancun is beautiful but with the swine flu if I was you I will not take a chance, in Brazil, there is not cases of swine flu at all.

**** you
