i know that to cross the us border by land all i need is an id and birth certificate, but i have a traveling issue...
i am 17 and a U.S citizen, I dont have a passport, i want to catch a plane in tijuana towards mexico then back, then i will be picked up at the tijuana airport and drive through the U.s border, my question is will they let me pass through knowing that i traveled to mexico on plane? i dont want to risk staying in tijuana because of this, i really need to know because i must travel on monday, but i am scared to be forced to stay as a punishment for flying to mexico withought a passport please answer my question |

Well about three weeks ago, my parents and I went to TJ and my mom forgot my passport. We still crossed, but anyways, when we crossed back to the US, my mom gave the border dude my ID and she told him I had a passport but we had forgotten it. He said it was fine, but my mom had my social security things just in case though. Anyways, it sometimes depends on the border officer you get, some of them can be real beotches. I do recommend you get your passport ASAP. Oh and I'm fourteen by the way, so I'm younger but I guess the same rules apply; I know so much about this stuff though, regardless of my age. |

THis a guess, but I would say that you will not need a passport to cross the border by land. Technically, you are not flying across borders, so you will be fine.
Be sure to fill out the neccessary visitation papers for mexico, as along f the line, you will be asked for a visa or something that allows you to travel within the country. I say no passport is needed. |

If you go without a passport and come back by car, you'll most likely be brought inside or turned back around to Mexico. U.S. Customs are always looking for passports no matter who you are. |

You definitely need a passport. We traveled by air to Aguascalientes MX in July and passport was required.

Traveling to Mexico by air:
It is required that travelers entering or re-entering the United States by air to present a passport. Even though the Mexican government does not require a passport for US citizens visiting Mexico as tourists, they'll need to present one to go back to the United States by air.
So why risk it? You need to get your passport! Good luck. |

dont worry about it i walked straight through there with nothing at all and said my purse was stolen but i am also 17... so being that your a minor they wouldnt care that much and if u had a copy of your airline ticket your good to go! Good luck and have fun! |

If you are not flying into the USA you do not need a passport, but you will need some type of photo ID whether it's a license or a government issued photo ID. I would just bring as much ID as possible with you and you'll be fine. |

You are not crossing the US border by plane there fore you will not need a pasport.

To get back to the US if ur traveling before June 2009 all you need is a birth certificate and an ID. You should be good/:-D |
