my husband is in mexico with a centennial cell phone and he can make and receive call from mexico but can not make or receive call from the US and when he does talk its $3 a min. and he cal send and receive text messages from US and Mexico and its 25 cents to send and receive.. when i did call his cell it just said that he couldnt receive calls.. kinda weird cuz its a US phone and service.. |

I was just in Mexico and I have a Sprint phone too. It does work, but call Sprint before going becuase it costs a lot of money for international calls unless you tell them first. I think we called Sprint and they have a program where you pay 10 dollars for the month in order to use your phone in Mexico. |

Most def, as long as there is a tower to give you a reception, you're good to go. You may want to contact Sprint and see if they have a plan you can use (cancel it after you get back) because otherwise you will be charged an arm and a leg for international calls and roaming... and that money will surely go to the tycoon of Carlos Slim, lets not make him any richer now that he outdid Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. |

Most cellular phones will allow you to make local calls while in an international country. You could call the hotel , restaurant , business in town but must have an international plan to call out of country or have someone call you.
Don't forget about voice over IP. Many internet cafes/stores will be set up for you with headphones and such. This is how I call family and friends. MUCH CHEAPER......... |

If you have a cell phone from Verizon, Sprint Nextel, Bell Mobility or TELUS Mobility your current service will not work overseas. Only AT&T or T-Mobile US number will work overseas on International Roaming but be careful you might end up paying $3-4 per minute for all calls.
I suggest you take a local country specific SIM Card, which will give free Incoming, a local number and cheap outgoing call rates. You can have one from RebelFone.com for example: |
