Would not traveling to Mexico, show a protest for the illegal immigrants coming in? |
I heard the suggestion today of not using any Mexican services, buying any imports from Mexico. Or traveling south
of our American border in protest to the illegal immigrant
situation. I would like to believe that this could make an im-
pact, but I doubt it. What do you think? |

It could have a big impact, if many people do it, but not in the Mexicans who are illegally in USA, but on the Mexican who stay in México.
If the Mexican companies lose a lot incomes, they release their personal, if they don´t find another job in México, then they try to get a better opportunity in USA.
Good idea, but the false impact, whicht yoi are looking for... |

you know, i really think you should. Make the wall higher and make it even more difficult for mexicans to invade your country. Actually, i don´t know why we don´t do the same...
though dollars are welcome, the US is not our main provider in tourism.
the interesting thing is that the US is made up of inmigrants, im sure you are not native american, so probably your grandparents were in the same position as many mexicans that are there now.
But the man-made border was created for a reason and that reason is... i don´t know... i guess that we mexicans stay in our country? borders are artificial, because it is people after all and political debates consider other things...
Personally i do not buy anything made in the US and many of my friends and co-workers don´t, because we do not support the US´s reign of terror... but well...
please, stay in the US and debate this in another place... |

They are those anti-illegals who blame the whole immigration problem on all the Mexicans here and in Mexico. When they hear "Mexican" (legal, illegal, American) they associate them with "illegal" immigration. So i think you should do whatever you want. You can go to Mexico. Why would you protest their culture and turist sites, if that's why you are going, doesn't mean you are supporting illegal immigration.
Basically, you taking a vacation to Mexico has nothing to do with the "illegal" immigration problem. just go. |

No it wont especially with our country moving thier companys and business over there taking away from our jobs here. Politics are contaditory of course |

Hard to call..loss of tourist pesos could lead the Mexican gov't to increase encouraging their people to flee to the US and generate more money to send back to Mexico.
It is remotely possible that the Mexican gov't would see it as a wake-up call and attempt to stop the exodus.
There does seem to be at least some rhetoric in Mexico related to decreasing the flow of illegals, but we cannot be sure there is any substance behind it. |

edgar(back for now) lol.

go ahead maybe that will cause mexican companies from developing there own technologys and stop all this racism with mexicans in the U.S. what if mexico began manufaturing tvs and cars and computers. which by the ways they are beginnnig to do. |

Well I think that u should do whatever you want. If u don't go to Mexico because of the immigrants, then i find that racist. If u're parents dont let u go, well thats another story. Just go, its a very nice place. I've been to mexico |

It could make an impact to show a protest for the illegal immigrants, but you have to understand that there are many Americans who want them here. Plus there are many Americans who like going to Mexico for their health issues too because it is cheap there to get a tooth pulled out or a new tooth put in. I don't think tourists will stop visiting Mexico because there are areas that are nice to see, and too bad that the people who are still trying to enter the U.S. are getting upset by setting fires along the borders....not making things better, but worse.
Many products of Mexico are in stores these days, maybe all companies should stop buying their products so they will know that we mean business, but that will never happen.
I just heard that 80% Americans are against the immigration bill......still President Bush and other leaders are not listening to the American people. So what is it that we need to do for them to listen besides contacting our Senators, Governor, etc....what next??? |

Actually it would have the reverse effect. They come for money and jobs. If more people can't make money in tourism and manufacturing more people would need to come here.
Buy More Mexican goods, Go spend more on the beach. That will help their economy and keep more of the immigrants in Mexico. |

i think we should quit drinking mexican beer, tequila and only travel to vacation places in the US, mow your own grass. Beaches in Florida, Alabama are as nice as anything in Mexico plus you dont have to worry about Mexican bandits robbing you. Quit having garage sales and they will all go back to mexico. |
