Well all I can tell you is me and my girlfriend has a trip planned to Cancun for last october ( still hurricane season). Wilma arrived just as were about to get their. We were very upset at first, but the airlines allowed us to change our flight with no fee. And the hotel let us cancel our reservation. If you book your trip through a tour operator ir some kind of package, make sure they allow you to cancel in case of hurricane. If you book air and hotel direct, normally they will allow you to change if a hurricane is coming. My advise, go for it, but have a backup plan just in case.

Yes it's true, but you get several days notice before a hurricane comes, you would most likely knot up be ready for a divorce before the hurricane hit.

sweetiegirl_mx_99
Yes but arent all places in risk of weather conditions??

I had been in Cancun during a Hurricane in September two years ago. It was fine and no problem since it was Minor. The Hurricane of last year was probably the worse in twenty years for Cancun. I have been there since and it is pretty well cleaned up.

We usually go in July but have been to Cancun in September and had no weather-related problems.. As far as hurricanes go, the season runs for several months anyway. The regular rainy season encompasses September, but we had no problems then. We were in the midst of the July 2005 hurricane but, fortunately, our particular resort did not have to be evacuated & 24 hours later we were back in the pool. Those who were evacuated from their hotels and/or resorts were not quite as fortunate because they could not get back into the Hotel Zone for a couple of days. Good luck - enjoy! The weather is usually great - disregard weather forecasts that say chance of rain almost daily. Most "rains" are momentary showers or late night rains. Rarely does it have a negative impact on your activities.

You are correct. There is a definate chance you may see a tropical storm when you are in Cancun in september. Hurricanes happen as well, but not as frequently. On the positive side, the rainy season is just a fact of life and the only inconviences are power outages, streets filling up with water, high surf, plane delays, and warm rain. Most hotels and locals are used to these yearly events and breeze through them like they are just another day. Do what the locals do. Relax. Have a drink. It will pass. Besides, if it's your honeymoon, it may be an excuse never to leave your room! wink wink
