Am I gonna waste the money by going to Nepal in July!?!?!?

3rd Week of July 08 - 2/3 nights in Kathmandu and 2 nights in Pokhara

Hi,
I'm a foreigner living in Dhaka, planning to go to Kath and Pokh in third week of July (2-3 Weeks from now). My tour agency came up with some packages for us for these two places: The Everest Hotel in Kathmandu and Fulbari Resort and Spa in Pokhara. Flight from Dhaka - Kath and A/C tourist bus from Kath - Pokh - Kath.

I read from somewhere that the bus from Kath - Pokh is safe though condition isn't that great, but the view is awesome.

What I'm worried most is actually the weather condition there in Nepal. It's gonna be my first trip there (hopefully if nothing changes). I'm aware that it's rainy reason. Do you think it's gonna rain everyday? Would the sky be clear too? Is the plane flight gonna be scary?

Am I gonna waste the money by going there in July!?!?!?

Please write...I'm thrilled about this!!
Thanks.

July, August months are monsoon months in Nepal possibly in other countries as well. The real matter is weather you like rainy season or dry season. If you love rainy season then it is great time to be in Nepal. Kathmandu is okay. But in Pokhara you will most of the rainy city in Nepal. I been to Pokhara in April 2007. It is very nice city for tour. I love Pokhara.

Hi,
Let me write according to your concerns. Yes, July is the month of rain in Nepal. It may rain whole day or continuous for two days but not all days of whole month. Usually rainfall occurs during night or evening time and for some hours only. After rain or before rain, the sky are partially cloud but you may also enjoy sunny day and blue sky as it changes everyday.
Your package includes one of the best hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara hence you will enjoy the hospitality. The tourist bus is best option. These buses don't allow any passenger on the bus roof (not true as one of the above answer has mentioned about roof travel). The bus guides you and you will have majestic views of hills, rivers and villages on the way to Pokhara or to Kathmandu. The road is narrow as it is hills highway so you may be scared but safe and memorable. No records of tourist bus accidents till now.
Its hard to predict weather condition. If you would have chosen other season that would be great but I assure you that you will not regret being there even in July. You will enjoy every cent you have paid to travel this beautiful country. Please do write your experience after the travel. Have a nice journey. Enjoy!

I've been there twice but I went in December/January both times. The Kathmandu/Pokhara bus trip is a real buzz. I don't know if they still do it but they used to let us sit on the roof.
It's not a waste of money to go there anytime of the year.

It does not always rain throughout the day. You will experience partly sunny days and some might be cloudy and some might be rainny. Looking at your schedule, you might be doing the sightseeing and the like. So, you need not worry that much. Hopefully, you will see the mountains.

For weather forecasts for both Kathmandu and Pokhara, have a look at http://www.exoticbuddha.com/english/weather/.
