Anyone traveled to Nepal recently? ?

How safe is it? I'm looking for safety tips, any regions to stay away from, anything else that I should know before I go. It'll be my sister, my wife and I traveling together. I've read the safety warnings from the government, but I'm hoping to get more info from people who have actually been there recently. Thanks for any help and information you can give me.

let alone traveling i live here dude
and yeah this place is safe
i mean the cities were never too unsafe but after the peace restoration process's success the outskirts & the countryside have attracted quite a lot of tourists as well
so i suggest you stay at kathmandu for about a week & maybe pokhara a couple of days & all those trekkings to the base camps of famous mountains
you should plan your visit with a travel agent its cheaper that way cuz they can group you with other tourists
this place is heaven dude i mean its my country & i have to say that you might think, but really for you guys its gonna be one hell of an experience.

Safety ? NO problem. Travelling by air ? or is it by land VIA India ?
if india come through Birgunj route. to Kathamndu. and then decide other destinations, like pokhara chitwan. Or trek and trail. Rafting . many things to do if you love nature. or want to buy chinese goods. in our new departments stores.

The travel safety warning by various Govt. is a thing of the past.

have you decided when? this is the best time to come. Nov. - Feb.
you will need one or two sweaters for the early morning and late evening.
what else ?
book a hotel, in advance.
have a happy holiday.

I live in Nepal and at the moment, the country is safe. Although we do hear the instances of violences on the country - especially in the south and east- they are not targeted against the tourist and tourists generally do not travel to those areas except while traveling on bus. If you are traveling by plane, then this is not a concern either.

The areas where most of the tourists visit - Kathmandu, Pokhara and the trekking routes are safe for travel.

The maoists are in the government and I have not heard any news about extortion and intimidation from them or any other groups.

What might worry you is the road obstruction by various groups to force the authorities to meet their demands. However tourists vehicles still ply on the roads - recently I saw a vehicle running on the road even when the road was shut down.
