Are there many Tibetans in Nepal?

Do you support them against the actions of the Chinese government? I do.
Additional Details
Thanks, Thing - that's very interesting about the temples. I'm furious about the Chinese govt's actions in Tibet and was just curious how to reach a Tibetan audience, as of course they don't have a page here on YA and the China site is dominated by apologists for the govt. Have you read some of their posts?

Yeah, Surely there are many tibetans in Nepal. When China took the power into Tibet then many Tibetans migrated in Nepal and India.

yes about 20% of nepalese are tibetans...
actually most people in north of nepal share a lot common with nepal.. the tibetan culture was influences by nepal , not vice versa....
china is powerful.
it built a rail line to lhasa.. and now nepal government is begging chaina to build a similar rail road to connect lhasa to kathmandu,,,,
haha the nepali governmetn and the indian government gives shelter to the tibetan pepople but does not let it demonstrate etc... in front of the chinese..etc... the story is complicated...
actually dalai lama is also scared nepal would turn him over to the chinese so he hid in a more pwerful nation india.....
history books dont write it.. but actually, tibet was like a slave to nepal for over 4 or 5 centuries.. tibet gave these tax to nepal etc....
later.. i am 2 bored to give a history lecture.. all i can say right now is there is a lot more between nepal and tibet than is seen by westerners.....

FFS what's with the names?

Excellent question! I don't have any first ahdn knowledge, but my former neighbours were from Nepal, and when we met was at the time of a visit by the Dalai Lama to Australia.

They told me then that many Tibetan people do live in Nepal, and also that there is a lot of inter-country trade between the small nations at the top of the mountains (Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, etc), and their bigger neighbours.

They also said that many of the temples in Nepal are used by both Buddhist and Hindu worshippers, without problems. I was so surprised to hear this, but they assured me it was true.

Cheers :-)

Answer for your first question is yes. there is many Tibetans in Nepal.
now main part do i support them against the action of the Chinese government. its very hard from my view. if i have to think as Nepali i will not support them in any way because of the following reasons
1. Tibet will cut the source of the business between china and Nepal which have huge impact in our economy.
2. Tibet will act like puppet state of India same like Bhutan and it will have negative effect in Nepal because India will get absolute power to disrupts the sovereignty of Nepal. as china is there India will not try to take Nepal sovereignty as china will see it as open thread for them. so china balance the power structure.
3. most of the Himalayan part of Nepal have strong cultural and emotional link to Tibet. this point can be used by the free Tibet to accumulate the higher status and try to get more from Nepal giving back nothing.
there are lot other things but these are the main factors i consider.

but if i look as other human beings who wants freedom and self governance then i absolutely support the Tibetans. the people have right to live as they like in their land.

so its little bit complex for me.

Yes there are Tibetans in Nepal and India. It is not humane, good and kind to displace any one from their home. How bad the Tibetans may be feeling is difficult to imagine, you know the phrase, only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches.
