It's horrible that, with so much potential for hydroelectric power, Nepal is suffering through hours and hours of load shedding every day because there is no electricity. As one of the poorest countries in the world, Nepal needs a lot of help to take advantage of its natural resources...help it doesn't have.
Try to do things that don't need electricity during your vacation and enjoy your time in Nepal!

owS? is that true.. how sad.

The loadshedding has caused real problems in Kathmandu. Especially with how cold Nepal is during the winter. It is difficult for people to get water, which is delivered through pumps at a certain time of the day. It is difficult for hospitals, schools, and general industry to function. Things are bad, and the government only cares about the Indian priests, an honorable fight, but one that does not affect the people's daily lives.

No light???R u crazy???U may not have electricity but how can u not have light during the daytime as long as sun is there!!

Yes, Nepal does have this problem, but they deal with it and so can you. Be sure to charge your electronics (lap top, camera) when the electricity IS on so you can use these things when it is off. I always carry a rechargeable ( wind up) flashlight, but extra batteries accomplishes the same thing. Plan your activities around the outages. It is a shame to watching movies inside anyway, when there is so much beauty to be seen and fascinating life going on all around.
