My friend and I are hoping to volunteer in Nepal in June. I have had my passport for about a year, but my friend has only had hers for a few days. I read somewhere that it is necessary to have a valid passport for at least three months prior to entry. Since she just got her passport, will be be able to enter? The dates are not negotiable, so it's not like we could go later in the year. Is there any way to stay in Nepal for about a month given her passport status?
She can use her passport the day she gets it...no such thing as needing it laying in a drawer for 3 months before you can use it. See site below and read under "Entry Requirements." Some countries require that your passport be valid for 3 to 6 months longer than your planned visit, but Nepal does not. Hope you have a great trip.

You need to have a valid Passport to get visa. The visa can be easily extended.
If you have your passport then I don't think it would be a problem. I am not aware of anything that you need a passport three months PRIOR to get visa. It would be a ridiculous law.
But I have heard that passport should be valid up to three months so that you wont have a valid visa on expired passport.
