Jim Lehman, a teacher at Godwin High School in Henrico County, Virginia, planned to climb to base camp in 2000. See the link below to an article in the school newsletter for more information. I found a couple of newspaper articles about his trip through LexisNexis as well, but none after the trip. I assume his venture was successful, but I can't prove it.
