Hello There,
I am from Kathmandu,
Legend has said that Kathmandu valley was once a great lake and Manjushree is said to have slashed a hill, which is presently known as Chovar, to drain the water to give us Kathmandu valley. In fact Kathmandu boasts one of the largest congregations of magnificent historical monuments and shrines ever built. You can see sancturies old temples and monuments. Thats why you must visit Kathmandu once in your life for more info

frankly Kathmandu itself is a piece of ****.

There are some beautiful sights within the city, such as Hanuman Dhoka which is the old city. But most of the city is congested, overcrowded and polluted.

BUT the rest of Nepal is freaking amazing. You just have to leave the chaos of the capital, which isn't that hard given its only something like 10 sq miles.

I travel to Nepal several times a year and always spend time in Kathmandu. I love being there, but I do not go for tourist sites. I go for the people. It is a fascinating culture, rich is tradition and they manage to keep their culture for the most part, even with all the outside influences.
